Subject: What Do You Use

thefixer ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2007 at 5:09 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 9:07 PM

For effects?
I have some Birthday money to spend and I'm thinking of getting some effects stuff, whether that be water effects, fire etc.
Can anyone recommend anything?
I'm thinking of particles 3 or maybe some PS7 brushes or layers etc.
What do you use for effects???

I like some of the PS brushes you can find here in teh market place.  My favorites are the smoke and water falls.  There are also a lot for waves and water related ones to use in post work..

Look for Raptura in the market place for some nice brushes. :)

I agree with Particle Illusion, and also Alien Skin and Flaming Pear have some good ones.

I use Particle Illusion and After Effects. Guess it depends on how much birthday money you got.

Never tried after effects. Can that be used for stills?

*Hmm looks very nice, but I didn't get "THAT" much [LOL]

Particles 3 over at DAZ looks like it does similar, any one know or tried it??

Thanx so far anyway, appreciated!!

I use Combustion for most of my compositing effects now. Within that you get the Particle Illusion effects engine, plus Combustion has been at a great price for some time. Also used After Effects a great deal in the past, but find it too clunky really. After Effects can be used within stills.

Particles 3 looks ok for the price and even better with the DAZ money back guarantee - so you can't go wrong really.

Cheers

Particle Illusion from Wondertouch is very good at 2D particle effects. It can be used to apply postwork effects and  for material development in 3D software.

What I like about Particle Illusion is how it produces really good alphas that save loads of time messing about in paint programs.

This example material uses a texture map from ParticleIllusion.

I got the demo and I've been playing with it, pretty impressive but $99 would take all my spare cash and I need other stuff too!!

It would be interesting to see if Particle 3 performed even close to Particle Illusion, but it does look promising!!!!
