Someone please tell me what's going on.
I recieved an email from a dear friend informing me that there was a Russian site stealing pictures from Renderosity and that one of mine was there! I immediately went and looked and sure enough there it was!!!   http://www.artfile.ru/oboi/b/i.php?i=a|228576
I AM DISGUSTED!
I always thought that your strict terms & conditions and your copyright policy would keep my work safe and now.....

I wont be posting anything to renderosity in the future until I am satisfied that Renderosity has done something about this....in fact I am thinking of deleting all my work [which has only ever been posted here]

Please can someone tell me WHAT IS BEING DONE?

dont you think that posting anything on the Internet is your Own risk at all time's
You and nobody but you is resposible for you work on the net...
So asking what has or is being done is simple but  the real question you need to ask is to yourself.. what can i DO...
R'o is doing what it can >stating that the creator is the copyright holder etc etc..
YOU make the choice to upload image's ..thats always on your own risk.

You can put logo's or you name in the image etc etc..
Saying you wont post anymore ..well thats the only 100% sure way that nobody can rip you images

To give you some insight ..when I see a image in full view on the screen ..its ALREADY on my HardDisk.. so any dowload lock is useless..
And thats with ALL image you see on any site...

So think about what you can do, and remember you are responsible for your own uploads 100%

And you can be sure R'O is always doing there best to protect your work.

That particular site is notorious for displaying stolen images. You're not the first one to be robbed, and as long as their ISP does not completely shut down the site, you won't be the last.

Unfortunately, there isn't much that Renderosity can do about these recurring thefts. Only the copyright holder to the stolen artwork has a chance to be heard. You can send a mail to the site owner telling him to take down the stolen image. The site owner MIGHT do as you ask. Russia has a dismal reputation when it comes to upholding copyright law, especially when the copyright holder is not a Russian citizen...

The only thing that Renderosity could do is providing a standard copyright infringement form, one that you can copy and fill out with the necessary details.
A version in Russian would probably a great help. I guess the majority of the Renderosity members can't read or write Russian.

what would you like the rendo admin to do.

what do you think they can do.

do you think the police can stop your house from being robbed or people from being raped or mugged. it's impossible for rendo to stop people stealing images from here and that goes for any other site. the sad fact is there is basically no way to stop an image from being stolen once you put it on the net.

just think of this and all other sites as a car park on the web. park here at your own risk and always remember the managment are not responsibla or liable for any loss theft or damage to any items left in your car.  they will however assist you as much as they can when possible. (but they are not obliged to)

You can't be serious.

Do you mean to tell me that the idea of somebody jacking your artwork never occurred to you?  It happens all the time; it's the Internet.  What did you think would happen if somebody right-clicks on your work and does a "save as"?  Did you think Rendo would send 50,000 volts through their chairs?

Rendo has placed copyright notices all over this site.  That will NOT keep somebody from ripping your work.  As a matter of fact, I have seen Rendo members rip work from others and post it here as their own.

Yes, no surprise here, the world is full of thieving assholes.

Here, you're not alone.  Some of my work is there as well...

They've been there for a year.  It's a fact of life.  It's going to happen, and if you can't accept that fact, don't upload to the Internet.
