Subject: Importing hair

SSAfam1 ( ) posted Wed, 14 March 2007 at 7:29 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 9:42 PM

I found some nice free hair  and trying to save it to my Poser libraries but it won't show up. When I click on the foler it's empty. I saved the hair to my C:/Mydocuments/name of the folder. Then I went to Poser and click to the very top until the red dot was visible in Poser 6 hierachy. I Added the file but the folder is empty. They are JPEG, Hr, rsr. images. Some of them have trans in the name.

Also how do I get hand painted hair (PNG) that is able to be opened in PSP back into Poser so that I can reshape it onto my figures head? Do I import it? It doesn't end with a HR file so I can't import it into the library right?

Thanks in advance guys.

Hi SSAfam1-
First off, the free hair you found should be placed in your Runtime/libraries/hair folder along with the RSR file. Most poser products now, whether free or for sale are zipped with the file hierarchy intact so that you can just unzip them into the correct folder. Once the hair is in the hair folder it should show up in your library palette under hair (or any subfolder that may have been created for the hair will be listed). To use the hair, select the figure that you wish to apply the hair to and click the check mark. If the hair was made for that particular figure it will parent automatically, if not, you may have to adjust the hair along the X, Y or Z trans and fiddle with the scaling. (Many times, there are fit files for the figure you're trying to use -- check free stuff areas).

As for the painted hair, once you've completed your render, painted hair is applied in postwork in Photoshop, PaintShop Pro or whichever paint program you use.

Thanks for the reply Kalon. The painted hair is called painted wig. It's already made. A (PNG) file. I need to get it into Poser as a prop so I can put it on my image. It needs to be tweaked to fit the positon of my image.

Painted hair (PNG, JPG, TIFF) has to be maneuvered onto the rendered figure in a paint program. Poser hair files are meshes, either HR2, CR2 or occassionally PP2 files.
