Subject: Spam mail

JTrout ( ) posted Thu, 15 March 2007 at 12:51 PM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 1:57 PM

Recently, spam mail came to be frequently sent to my e_mail address registered into some communities including the Renderosity. So, for the trial, I changed the registration address to the new address which is not used once yet. However, spam mail came to be sent also to the new address in about five days. Since I had changed the registration to some communities simultaneously, I changed only the registration of the Renderosity into a completely new address this time. However, spam mail came to be again sent also to the new address in about five days. Although I trust the Renderosity, however I cannot but think that the mail address is flowing out of here from the above-mentioned circumstances. Aren't there those who have had the same experience? Or is my recognition wrong?

i actually changed my email address just yesterday to try to figure out where all the spam i am receiving lately might be coming from -  my email addy has always been very free of spam until about 1-2 months ago...

i set up an email box solely for Rendo correspondence, but so far it has remained spam free... you say it took about 5 days?  i guess i'll know more by that time myself...

I set up a new rendo email a couple of weeks ago as I'd suddenly started getting spam to the old one - took a few days but it started coming to the new one too.

There was a very long thread about this from 2/3 weeks ago but eventually it was locked by admins

one would hope their server is secure against e-mail harvesting spiders. sorry to hear of the spam, Jtrout. you have done some excellent models of salmonids and streambed props.

Thank you for a reply and information. I understood the situation in general. Anyway, I hate spam mail very very very much. That is because not only a network resource but a user's time is wasted. I want this situation to be improved strongly as well as many friends of this site. Thank you.
