Subject: Change to e-bots?

Giolon ( ) posted Mon, 05 March 2007 at 5:40 PM · edited Wed, 11 March 2026 at 1:01 PM

Have you guys made a change to ebots over the weekend such that the message header is included in the body of the e-mail?  i.e this crap:

I mean I have moved to a new computer, but I re-installed Office 2003 just as I had before, and no other e-mail is coming in with this crap at the top, so it leads me to ask, did you guys change something?  It looks like the e-mail came through in Plain Text format instead of HTML as well.

Edit: It also seems this is only happening for "XXX has posted a new image!" messages.  The "so-and-so posted a comment" messages are arriving as normal.

I'm checking on this for you.. Hold tight

StaceyG ( ) posted Tue, 06 March 2007 at 9:34 AM

I just checked my ebots for "xxxx has posted a new image" and mine are not coming through in this way...They look just the same as always.

I'll let you know if the programmers have any suggestions for you.

Stacey, have the programmers been able to tell you anything?

I want to reiterate that it's only the new image post e-bots that are doing this.  Comment, favorite, and thread alerts are coming through normally.

I also noticed that similar information is being appended to the end.  It's as if the HTML for the messages is not being formatted properly or something.

The programmers stated that nothing has changed but I'm not sure if they have had time to research any reasons that you might be receiving them this way?  Mine are coming through fine and its kind of strange because this is the only complaint we have received saying this is happening. Did you check all your settings and things on your end?

Giolon ( ) posted Fri, 09 March 2007 at 7:48 PM

nod I have triple checked over everything.

I will provide more details on the situation in case they help:

I moved to a computer with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit on it.
I installed the same copy of Microsoft Office 2003 that I had been using on my old computer, with all patches and updates.
I set up my mailboxes identically to the way they were set up before, in fact I imported my PST files.
All other e-mail that I receive from this site or otherwise are coming through properly in HTML format.  The only e-mails that are messed up are the Fav Artist new image notifications.  Newsletters come through, comment, forum, and favorite alerts come through, spam comes through!
I have tried repairing my PST file using Microsoft's tool, and it finds no errors.
I have viewed the e-mails in question on my laptop that has an identical set up on Windows XP Professional, and there is no issue.

I'm still getting unwanted ebots from the Poser forum. I'm not even subscribed to it. It stopped flooding my inbox but my email is a free provider and has no block spam protection as it's new. I dont  know how to turn these bots off. It;s werid, I can post here and not get an ebot, the Poser forum, I get them even when I don't post, lol. Oh well. ;)

StaceyG ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2007 at 11:55 PM

So Dajadues, its just the Poser forum threads that you are getting bots from but no other forum?

Do you just have one account here?

StaceyG ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2007 at 11:58 PM

Dajadues,

Also are you the one I asked to forward me some of the ebots you are getting that you feel you shouldn't be getting?  If not then please forward me a few of them so I can research further

Hi Stacey,

Have the programmers had anything informative to say on the matter thus far?  I've found that the "Your opinion has been approved." e-mails have the same problem as the new image posted ones.  All others are still coming through normally...

Thanks,
Gio

Can you forward me a few of these exact ebots you have received so we can look at them?  Since there has been no changes and it doesn't appear this is happening with any other member, its got to be something in your settings somewhere.. I don't know but hopefully if we can actually see how you are receiving them, it will help with suggestions on what you can do.

Giolon ( ) posted Fri, 16 March 2007 at 11:38 AM

I absolutely will Stacey, but I can't find your e-mail address!
