Just a heads up for anyone who is considering using PS on a Windows Vista pc..

It works but the pop registration screen appears everytime you open PS. This is not an issue Adobe intends to resolve. Their  customer support attitude is that PS is not officially compatible with Windows Vista and there will be no upgrade patch to make it so.  If you want a compatible version then you will have to wait until PS CS3 comes out. 

I have let Adobe know what I think of their attitude to customer support, and about thier not making this very clear on their web site and product advertising !
  

No... you'll likely have to wait 'til the patched version of Vista comes out..... This is not much better than '95... Also, MS has made very little effort to make Vista compatible with much of anything.... check the other forums, there's widespread "unhappiness" over this. lou.

I guess adobe customer support team said the right thing about the compatibility of the CS2 version.. And its mentioned clearly on their website on this LINK

Now comparing the CS2 and the CS3 and according to the Adobe Team... The CS3 was specially made to support windows vista also that information can be found here on this LINK

Also to be honest, i will never go with the VISTA [Any Version] and the reason more into performance and technical issues tho even after release service packs if any will come soon...

I'd rather stick to my XP Pro Corp W/SP2 Integrated and my Mac/Tiger OS X 10.5 :) Anyways... Thank you for the post and have a great day my friend

Hmm strange, my CS2 runs on my Vista without problems.But another Software doesn't run, my Adobe Acrobat 7. Luckily i have two pcs, one with good old XP and the newer one with Vista.

The work around I have is to open PS as an administrator, you will then get a warning dialogue from Vista saying an unrecognised program PSCS2 wants to access your system , click to allow this. In PS you can now complete the registry pop up or click do not register. Close PS and go back to the properties dialogue and uncheck the open as administrator box this will then get rid of the Vista warning about an unrecognised program. 

You only need to to do this once, afterwards PS will open without any problems. 

The issue is one of PS not be able to write to the Vista registry files unless it is opened as an administrator.

Sorry I have not come across any work around for Acrobat 7 which just seems totally incompatible.

Arvanor said that he is running Photoshop under windows VISTA with no problems... It can heppen tho if he did a clean OS install!

And i specially did a test for you yesterday on my workstation running WINXP-SP2 and photoshop CS2 ME and it said that it won't work under Vista!

So di you install Vista as an upgrade version? Is it an upgrade copy only? Or stand alone? What about you Arvanor, did you install as a clean install or an upgrade?

Photoshop I followed the procedure given by Adobe for transferring it from one machine to another.

I went to COMPUSA today and i spoke to one of my reps. The do have a stand a lot windows vista RTM releases tho! And they ain't the upgrades, they are just a full pre-releases for business

I tried to install Photoshop on one of those machines with full version of vista running and it did install

Now again i tried to install it on a brand name computer with pre-installed windows vista on it but it gave me a message saying this software is not compatible with my system.. So i really don't know what to tell..

It still doesn't make any sense tho! But all i know for sure from Microsoft ME, that when ever you go Higher with versions, you have more compatibilities with software.. So are you using the Home Basic or Home Premium Edition?
