The terrain and sky look great! The only thing that bothers me is seeing the stars through the planet. If you added the stars in post, maybee you could use a rendermask to block the stars from the planet. Or should they show through the part of the planet that isn't visible? Hmm...not sure on that one. Great pic though! Rich
heyas; well..... technically, if the stars were closer to this planet (that we're standing on), they'd be suns, and MUCH huger! either that, or that planet there is where all the missing 'dark matter' in the universe got to, to be able to see it from THAT far away. but hey, we're artists, not realisits ;)
Bill, me too. I haven't even had a chance to start yet! :) D, okay I can understand the stars are between the camera and the planet, but do you know how humongously huge that planet must be to be viewed as large as that, with stars between, and the stars looking so small? I'm personally not usually a stickler for "accuracy" as such (because I think images can take place anywhere, with all kinds of different physics), but seeing the stars in front of the planet is disconcerting, even to someone like me who doesn't really know much of anything about space. So I think, if you choose to leave it that way, just be prepared for viewers questioning it. Bottom line, it's your world, so you absolutely have the right to choose if the planet really is that large! :)
Could it be that maybe they're asteroids? But I'll second what bloodsong said about us not being a bunch of Carl Sagan's or something like that. ;/ And aside, that's a really gorgeous picture! Varian says he wouldn't want to live thaere, but man, I sure would love to wake up to that view! Just wouldn't want to live too close to the coast--- just IMAGINE the tides that would create....
