Hi, people! Sorry for disturbing all of you! I didn't wanted to interfere but I guess, I could help You out, and spend a little assistance to Drifterlee, because I am from Russia, and I could "decipher" Your messages as well. I mean, I'd be glad to... So, if you need my help, please, write back.

:)

Aral3D ( ) posted Fri, 23 March 2007 at 5:58 PM

Thank you Fatman117!...the russian web site we are talking about is:
http://www.1zoom.ru
In this site we can find many images taken from Renderosity and most of them are posted by Aleni.
There is also an admin e-mail adress, but I think we can try before to contact this "Aleni".

If you check the 3d section you'll recognised many images from Antje, RGUS,  and many others...
And most of all those by Rainfather the signature has been cutted off...this is a clear violation of copyright...

Now:

  1. nobody ask them and us permission to post our images in other web site
  2. are they selling our images for cell phone "desktop"?

Could you write him that images taken from RR are just to be saved on HD for personal use and not posted in other site without author permission?!
and please tell him that ask cost nothing!...because take without asking in the west is called...you know!?
Now if he will keep our names and post them with our names and permission is ok, but if he posts them without our permission and he cut off signature....well this is a different subject...
Probably as Drifterlee explained us in Russia there is no copyright laws, but if this web site can be seen by west people...well he is violenting our laws...
Thanks a lot for your help!Aralt3

Yeah, you are right... Unfortunately...  There is a copyright law in Russia, but it hardly works in such cases. Our democracy is still pretty young, you know...  :)
Well, don't worry. I'll try to contact these guys, and explain them the whole situation. I don't think there should be any problems with that.

I had a little conversation with the site admin via e-mail.
First of all, he assured me that the artwork is not for sale. To be sure about this I registered at 1zoom.ru under a different nickname, and all I can do now, is to confirm the guy's words - all the pictures are free to download for every registered user, and the registration is free as well.

Then he told me that it would be a plenty of work to ask permission for every picture he gets. And he doesn't know what to do in this situation. It's up to you now. I personally think, there could be a way out of this if you allow him to ask permission only once, for all your former and future artworks. Sounds wild maybe, but I think, there are no other options.

Now about the signature problem. That is something I should talk to Aleni about, because she (it's a girl) cuts off the signature before sending the picture. The admin gave me her ICQ -number, so I can solve the whole problem with her personally.

I will setup the ICQ in a couple of hours, and then I'll try to reach her.

Aral3D ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2007 at 11:59 AM

Thank you so much Fatman! This is really important for us.
I understand admin position, the problem I think is all Aleni!...
Even if the admin usually has the responsability of what is posted in his website I can understand it's not possible to check all images posted by users...
I think the important is talk to Aleni, I'm sorry but I will NEVER give permission to post my images, I cannot trust one person who is taking other images and remove the signature off from them as she did in Rain's, Surama's, Antje's, Toxicangel's and others!Because if you post someone else images in other site and you keep signature is something, but if you cut the images and post it without signature...this is another thing....So cannot forgive and give her permission of deciding who is the author of my images!
Thanks again for your precious help!!!
Hugs Aralt3

No problem! 😄
Well, let's wait till Aleni gives me an answer. I've sent her an ICQ message, but it seems to me that she is offline right now. To be honest, I don't think she violated the copyright law intentionally. We don't even know her. I mean, it's the Internet, isn't it? It is quite possible that we talk about a 8 year old girl that has no idea about any kind of laws. I am not trying to excuse her - I mean, I am an artist too, and I don't want  my work to be stolen... I just think, you shouldn't worry about this that much. In my country there is a court as well, and believe me - these 1zoom.ru guys don't need that kind of troubles.

McAfee2000 ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2007 at 5:06 PM

you have a point fatman - I agree it could be an 8 year old girl who thought the pictures were great and posted them for others to see.
I think the solution in this case might be - she delete those images she downloaded from renderosity, ask permission, and repost with credits to the original artists.
Like Aralt3 stated, she doesn't let anyone post her images. I know Rain has sort of gotten the same way since her images have been stolen one to many times on one to many sites lately.

Aral3D ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2007 at 5:46 PM

I understand...but it seems to me quiet strange that famous (I mean well known) artists image are without signature and the others has it...this is what made me think badly...
Of course I understand it could be possible too...but you know...why do you think artists as Antje, Rain's and Surama's pics have no signature and the others from Rosity have?...you know if she didn't think to do something wrong she would have left their signature too...
For me there is no problem, it's not the first time and not the last one I see my images posted somewhere else, but they keep my signature, so no problem at all...but in this case...you know I won't give her permssion to use mine...not sure she will leave my signature on them or not.
Anyway I'll wait for her answer!
Thanks again for your help Fatman!

Like I said. I'm talking to Aleni right now. She took the pics from elsewhere, and the signatures were already removed.

Here are the adresses:

http://rc-mir.com/

http://www.artfile.ru/

http://www.gee.ru/

http://www.babene.ru/

http://www.mota.ru/

Aleni wasn't aware that the artwork has been stolen, and I gave her the adress of our forum so she can explain the whole situation by herself. The only problem is - her english is not that well. But she told me that from now on she will ask the author's permission. By the way - she didn't knew about Renderosity until this week, and the first time she saw  our galleries was three minutes ago, when I gave her the link.
Right now she tells me that the most of the pics she took at artfile.ru
Regarding the already posted pictures - she says, the site administration can remove it everytime; we only need to tell them the number of every picture. That's it. 😄

McAfee2000 ( ) posted Sat, 24 March 2007 at 6:01 PM

Wow - so many sights. I'm glad Aleni is being honest and upfront with you. I've been to the artfile.ru and it's pretty bad with the artwork that has been lifted. I have thier site marked. It's one of the first sites I heard about that had a ton of stuff from RR.

Sorry, I forgot this one:

"Hello, dear authors! I - Aleni. I ask you to accept my apologies for the created situation! I give you the word of honour, that never and any work not downloaded from your site."

That's it, fellows - it's up to you now. I've got the site administrator's e-mail, and Aleni's ICQ-number as well. I am sure she gives us every kind of assistance - all we have to do, is giving them a list with the numbers that has been appropriated to your pictures if you decide to remove the works. 😄

you know, whenever someone asks to use my renders in tubes or personal websites i always say yes but in this case, seeing as they have taken off my signature and put on theirs is too much for me to just shrug off. if they wish to download any of my images they can go to the two galleries i have authorized to house my work mainly renderosity and deviantART and i demand they ask permission first before deciding to post any of my work.

fatman, again many thanks for your help on this. i doubt we'll get this far had it been left for us non-russian speakers to sift through the website. i appreciate all your help.

to aleni, i would appreciate my work taken off the website if you please.

I ask of the sanction to put your photos on a site. They will be with signatures. I shall load them from your gallery. You will not be against?

I want to thank Aleni for answering here and for writing the list of web sites which have our images.
PLEASE ACCEPT my apologies if I doubt about you...but as you have been able to see there are so many russian web site which are taking our images, and most of them have been taken from here and often from member of this site too but with different username, so I hope you'll understand our rage.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people don't know what they are doing, as in your case, but there more people that know well what they are doing, because removing signature is something that people do if they know it's forbidden to take it.
I'm terribly sorry for my doubt about you, but you see how easy is to find stolen images.
We are trying to defend our rights, nothing else, personally I don't want to denonce anyone or do something legal to anyone, but I would like to know people respect our works.
We spend a lot of time doing them and a lot of money to do our pics buying stuff, so the minimum is to see our efforts recognised when images are posted.
Thanks a lot to Fatman for his precious help and to Aleni for joying us and explain her situation and giving us the adress of the real responsible!
For me it's ok to see my pic in 1zoom.ru 'cause my pic keeps my signature, even if posted by you Aleni.

I am very glad, that we could understand the created situation. I promise, that closely(attentively) I shall see(overlook) the works sent by me and works on your site to find out which of them were stolen earlier. With your permission a picture with the erased signatures it would be possible to replace with the signed works, if you, certainly, not against.

And still I want to emphasize, that I have given the address of sites, whence I take any wall-paper. But to assert(approve) precisely, that I took your wall-paper there, I can with accuracy only about Artfile. There there were many pictures from YOUR site as I now see. Other sites can be and are not guilty.

Once again excuse for my English. If I have not clear written something, it is possible to ask Fatman to transfer(translate) more precisely.

Yours faithfully and admiration from your works.

Don't worry Aleni personally I don't need to accept your offer my images are signed and keep it where I saw them..There are some pics I did in collaboration with some friends, I used their backgrounds with their permission and they are not signed by both of us or by one of the 2 authors...I would them removed, but too big the site to find them again...anyway it's gone...just be careful in the future...
You know, someone asled me if I had permission to used someone else images as backgrounds for my works, of course I had it and you can see they also commented saying they liked what I did with their works, but it doesn't matter, the important thing was to dimonstrate they gave me permission to used it officially...so it's terribly difficult...

This is what I hate, they ask artists that do regular things and they do nothing to those who are stealing really our images...***

I believe you and I'm sure not that you know where the original pics are posted you'll be more careful in take the responsability of what you post and how.
I understand if you find some images around the web with no signature or even if with it you cannot be sure if the person asked permission or not, please be carefull if you see that the pic have a signature on and the name of the person who is posting is not the same be careful...probably is not the authour of it...
I found many images me too, I could use as background for my images, but the risk to do something wrong as it happened to you is big, so I prefer not to take them...

As you can see there are many web site with our images stolen, and you can understand why we were so angered with you, even if you didn't know the reality of it.Be careful in the future, it can happens someone will not accept the explaination that: you didn't know....just be careful..take care

Many thanks for your kind attitude(relation) and understanding of a situation. Certainly, I shall try to be more cautious, but in the Internet so it is a lot of works and signatures are not at everything, therefore everyone can happen. Please, if you again will see YOUR picture placed without the permission on our site, inform about it in comments to it(her). I at once shall tell to the Manager that it(he) has removed her(it).

With the big respect. Aleni

Dear Rainfeather! Excuse me for importunity. I ask your sanction to leave YOUR works on our site, having replaced with their works with your signature. Your products very much нравяться to users of our site, and they with the great pleasure decorate with them the working table. If you insist on removal(distance) of your works, it will be made. In any case I am compelled to ask your help. On our site I have found only your 2 works: Ancron Revisited and The Safe Passage., please, help me to find the others that they could be replaced with others with your signature or are removed according to your desire. You could not give the reference to those your works which you saw on our site? Beforehand many thanks. Once again I ask to excuse me for the delivered troubles.

In the proof of that we did not steal your works, I send to you the reference to your product where on a place of your signature there is a watermark of other site.
Very much it would be desirable to receive your trust and hope, that in the future I can receive the sanction to copying of your works.

http://1zoom.ru/see.php?n=35513&js=1&uu=125.6

Also I want to tell you, that if you still will see suddenly on our site your work placed without your sanction, please, write the comment to this work with the requirement to remove a picture and it will be made. The Internet - is huge, and it is very difficult to be in safety from similar situations.

With huge respect and admiration. Aleni
