Another image I put together. Thought I would give it a little twist.

It looks like he was eaten by a sand monster...

BTW, how did you make that wavy-terrain? That would make a helluva good surf wave terrain...

Hd, THe planet looks really cool, and I do mean that, but it looks as if there's a spotlight on it. I would think that in reality the entire planet would be lit, since the light source seems to be hitting it head-on. Well, of course you wouldn't see the part that's fading into the thick atmosphere at the horizon. Speaking of whick, I think that's a great fade into the atmosphere there. I like the way the planet "disappears" into it, and I love the way the clouds blend into the black and starry sky. The more I look at it, the more I like it, but how about a little more detail on the ground? :)

heyas; those are 'dune' style terrains, fox. i use them for waves all the time. ;) did you mean for the planet to be coming through the clouds, there? it seems to me the lower edge should be less visible through the whole arc of the cloud cover. some blurring on the background mountains will also give it some good depth, i think.

It's very cool work, John! I like the color of the sands, and the footprints add a great touch. Makes one wonder who went by there. :)

Version #2: A few slight changes. Any better?

Thanks for the info Bloodsong! I had NEVER tried that particular Vue terrain before. Es Perfecto Mundo!...

I think this is a very good scene. The moon looks much better in the second version. Also really like the sand texture. Something along those lines might be better for the dirt road texture I'm working on.

I like the change on the moon (planet). It doesn't have that "spotlighted" look anymore and seems more natural. But the edges of the clouds seem to be cut off more abruptly along the upper edges in this version. Looking back, I guess the first version also had somewhat abrupt edges, but it still seemed softer, a gentler "fade". :)
