Subject: Oddness with Poser 7 and externam runtimes..

-BrandyE- ( ) posted Thu, 29 March 2007 at 10:51 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 5:53 AM

I have always used mulitple external runtimes to manage my content.

All was working well..but now everytime i try to use v3 and morphs poser hangs and cannot find the files.  I have tried everything I can think of...reinstalling the moprhs..poser, etc.  And stilll cant get it to work correclty.  Figures like Aiko and V4 whose morphs are included work just fine.

Any thoughts as to what the issue might be and how i can make it work?

Thanks

Brandy

Where are the V3 morphs installed to?  If they're loaded into the P6 Runtime you have to have that loaded one time and make sure your search function is set to Deep so that P7 knows to search all the runtimes.  Once P7 finds the deltas it will remember and automatically reference the location again, even if it isn't linked.

They are installed in the p6 runtime...and even in the p7 runtime (out of trying to fix it)  I do have it set to search deep..and oddly enough...even when I manually find the files, it doesn't remember the next time

That's really odd, Brandy, since my V3 morphs and deltas are installed to the V3 external runtime and I don't have any problems like this.  Don't know what else to suggest.

Experienced the same thing with INJ Pzs.

  • here is my work-around.  Once I've got the ding-dang INJ Pzs working for my DAZ3D M3Sr1, I save him as a CR2 under the Figures tab of Poser's library.  I can re-call my character-ised M3SR1 next time I want to use him in a scene.

Sometimes, exiting Poser and re-booting helps refresh its memory about the where to look for the INJ Pzs.  Not consistently, though.**

Something that might be useful:

  • load V3, M3, whatever, with ALL morphs, and save the figure back to the library. Totally unwieldy for actual use in images, but a good base for creating characters.

  • Load the "loaded" V3 (for example), and morph her until she looks like you want her to look.

  • Run my SpawnCharacterP6 script (here in freestuff) to consolidate all those different morphs into a single new morph. The script will create a pair of INJ/REM poses.

  • Now if you want this character again, just load an unmorphed V3 and apply the INJ pose.
Since the INJ pose does not rely on externally located delta files (all the morph deltas are incorporated in the .pz2 itself) Poser shouldn't have any trouble locating the files.

As an added bonus the resulting character is much more lightweight than a "traditional" injected V3. Instead of dozens of loaded morph targets, there's only one.

The script works on all DAZ characters that have PBM_CC injection channels.

Do you have Deep Search on or off in General Preferences? (Edit Menu)

Poser 7 will find them even if they are not in an active Runtime if they are on your System and you have Deep Search turned on. (NOTE to all those Testing Products, Deep Search in Poser 7 will find references like the Visible Channels and Deltas most times, if it is on the System.)

svdl -
Woot !
I'd love to use that script in my P7sr1
Good concept.

ractcloset -
really ?  P7 sr1 Deep Search will do the trick, eh? idn't realise it.   I'm going to give it a bleeding edge try-out - I have 489 external runtimes and increasing.  heh heh heh

The script should work fine in P7. I'll test it.

tried all the suggestions here and I STILL cant get v3 to work anymore.  This is on a new pc..and I never had this issue before on the old one.  Everytime I try to use v3....once I do a character inj poser hangs trying to find InjDeltas.Smile2.pz2 or another face related inj.  I even tried loading v3...injection all her morphs..saving that cr2 and then trying to load a character...No joy....So then I decided to run a search on my whole pc for the missing file...It was not found.  I have reinstalled my morphs several times.....

Help, lol...I have no clue what the issue is...

Thanks

I tested the script in P7: it works.

About the missing file(s) - the expression morphs are no longer in the head morph packs, since V3 SAE (the current update of V3) has all expression morphs in the base CR2. That might be the reason that the files don't get installed.

But that also means that old INJ files that were built for the first version of V3 will try to inject files that no longer exist!. Could that be the problem?
