Subject: Lost C3D Objects after Upgrading??

BernieStafford ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2007 at 12:02 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 9:34 PM

Last night I decided to upgrade from the pre-release version of V6I to the "final" release, with the latest patch.

All went well until I noticed that not all of the C3D objects that I copied over were showing in the "new" V6I.  Thinking that it might be a copy protection issue I downloaded them again and re-installed.  However they're still not showing in the Objects browser.

I can't be the first person who has experienced this - hopefully there is a simple solution?

Thanks,

Bernie

Where did you install them? A "personal" or "C3D" collection, perhaps? Or do they self install?
What I always do is dowload the zip, and not a self installing version of the items, so I can install them where I want.
If they self install, I bet they are in the appropriate folder, for example, if they are trees, you'll find them in the trees collections of your plants, if they are buildings, you should find them in the building folder of your objects collections, maybe in a subfolder called "sfi fi" or "monuments", since many objects sub categories have been added to the collections structures to match those of the store.

When I re-downloaded, I downloaded the zip version, and manually installed into the objects folder.

Most of the C3D objects are showing without problems (ships, cars, lighthouse etc) however a few (Dystopia City Blocks 31 - 40, Dry Stone Wall) are not showing in the Objects box even though they are physically within the Objects folder.

Can you select them with a "manual" search?

BernieStafford - Are these folders within the Vue 6 folder in your Program Files or within your documents folder where Vue places these files?  Sorry if this is what you have already done.

Bruno021 - yes, I can select them manually - they're just not showing up in the Objects browser.

Stormchaser - the objects are physically within the "Objects" folder of the Vue 6 directory tree.

There is a known bug Bernie with the collection browser. Especially on Mac. I reported it and hope is will be out soon. It can be annoying.

If it's not the bug wabe talked about, maybe it is that you use the "hide online content" function ( the ghost icon at the bottom of the collections browser), and it hides your stuff as well as online content.

Then, I'm lost, sorry!
