Subject: Hosting for Vicky 1 freebies

Cage ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2007 at 4:44 PM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 2:29 PM

I'm working on putting together an update for my web page at Kuroyume's development zone, where I mainly have characters for Vicky 1.  Files for this figure are becoming harder to locate online as time goes by, naturally.  I thought it might be good to offer to put up a special hosting page on my site, as part of the update, where other people's free V1 files might be placed.

So I'm putting out a general call to people.  If you have V1 freebies which you no longer have online, would you like to have them hosted?  I have a number of textures and character files for the figure, not all of which have readme files, which it might be nice to keep available.

So please, if you would like to have your files hosted, let me know.  I'll be putting up the page in the next week or so, if there's anything to put there.  :)

Kind of looking like a resounding "no" is the response to this idea.  Okay.  I thought it might be a nice thing to try.

Sorry to bump this again.  I'd go ahead and delete it if I could, instead of apologizing....

Trouble is lot's of people dont get intrested when people host stuff for certain characters, as i have lots old old stuff for various figures.
And would like to get more or share more though peeps start crying when they cant get stuff thew need when they should support.

Hi Cage!

I think your offer is terrific, it would be nice if some of the "old" stuff would hit the surface again.
Unfortunately I have nothing to offer but I just wanted to say that I like you idea, hope you get some responce on this.

Regards / Jonny

Hey Cage,

I'm with Jonnybode on this.  I've used your characters many times over the years and they are fantastic.  You and many other contributors have kept the old (but great V1/V2/Posette ) characters still viable for many of use to fall back on for various renders.  Thanks for your generosity.  I too wish I could help, but cant except to offer a small suggestion: try over at animotions if you havent already.  Good luck.

momodot ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2007 at 7:27 PM

I think this is really nice of you. I would love to be able to get hold of V1 stuff. All the stuff I had on my freebie site including V1 stuff was lost in a flood before I got my disc burner :(

Cage ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2007 at 8:26 PM

So perhaps this just isn't the best forum to ask about this?  Or perhaps I should try contacting people whose V1 items I have copies of.  Hmm.  I didn't expect to have to dig to find things to host on a Vicky 1 preservation page....  :-P

*"by the way i have a couple of textures for your angel wings and recommend them all the time to others."

*Are those textures posted anywhere?  If you've made them and they aren't online, I'll be happy to put them up.  I didn't know anyone actually ever used those wings.  :)  Neat.  Even I have hardly used them.  I can't remember how.  :-P

*Links would be great if you have them.  If I can't put up files, perhaps just a repository of links would be useful.

I think I'm one of the few people who still uses Vicky2 on a regular basis: my Tabby character is a V2 model.
But, since the release of V3, most of the regular Poser sites have stopped offering V2 stuff.

I made some "Spandex" Sub-Dividing MAT Poses a while back and they're still available on my  Goodies page (for free).
I have the following items that were once offered as products, but have long been deleted due to lack of sales:

  • Charlee character (head texture, body texture, MAT poses)
  • 30 Poses for Vicky (poses)
  • Dress Pack: a set of textures and transparency maps: 11 styles and 15 colors, for 165 possible combinations.

If anyone can use these files, let me know and I'll add them my site... for free, of course.

bnetta - if you want to change the hosted location of the files, I can put them up.  Otherwise, for something that's still available online, I think I should put up a link.  And I hadn't even thought of clothing textures when I posted this.  D'Oh!  I only use a few clothing items for the figures, so clothing add-ons tend to fall beneath my radar.  😊  But I'd happily host or link to the items you show here, depending on your preference.

JHoagland, I, at least, would welcome the opportunity to try your items.  It's really great of you to contribute former marketplace items to the community.  If I ever produce anything of marketplace quality, I will follow your example.  (I don't expect to improve the quality of my output enough for that anytime soon, however....)  Thank you!  :)

Just wanted to add my voice of encouragement - I don't have any resources to share, but I do find myself using the older figures from time to time so your archive will be a welcome bookmark

Okay, here you go:
Dress Pack for Vicky.
This product is a 572k zip file and contains 12 texture and trans maps (in gif format), 1 "reset" MAT pose, 11 style MAT poses, and 15 solid-color MAT poses.
The solid-color MAT poses only change the color of the materials so they can be used with any of the style MAT poses.

Keep in mind that this product was made in 2003- although it works perfectly fine, it's not as refined as my later products. ;)

Some goodies from our Japanese friends can be found here: ISOP Mirror

  • Wedding Dress for V1 and V2
  • Pant Suit for V1 and V2
  • Mermaid Dress for V1 and V2

A nurse dress at the original ISOP site.
The home page for the ISOP site is here, but I've always found navigation to be confusing. ;)
