Wow!  I am floored!  I am brand new at this (not quite 3 months yet).  I have looked at Agent Smiths, Drawbridge, Death at MIdnight, Thandaluz, ICM's, and others galleries....and I dont hold a candle to these great artists....i have maybe 5 things I have done that I consider "art" or even all that good....since most of my posts are just posting stuff as I learn it, not artistically oriented.  Getting any kind of recognition at all when standing next to these great technicians and artists is just totally thrilling, and inspires me to keep struggllng along and learning more.

This was fun!  Many thanks to those that deemed my work meritorious. Congratulations to the winners, it was well deserved.  Lots of fantastic posts in this competition, I dont really know how anyone could choose just 3 out of what I deemed to be about 10 candidates for First Place.

Congratulations , D_a_M, Drawbridge and Savantnoir.  Coming out on top of such a well participated challenge is awesome.  You three deserved it.

Thank you everyone! I really don't know what to say.... I'm in a state of wow!

But a bigger thank you should go to everyone here. You have all been a teacher to me. So many great art works you have in your galleries, the techniques you all write about, the tips, freebies, everything, and also the enthusiasm. It's like a big team, a Bryce team, and I learn a lot from everyone here.

The vacuum tube was my middle idea and the last collection of prototypes. I tried many ideas out, from the Hyporea mushroom to mini-lightbulbs to even a Pink Panther crystal, I tried all sorts of ideas that didn't work. But it was the feedback from those lightbulbs which prompted me a closer look at the tube. It's also a perfect symbol of what interests me--it's both a historical and technological object. But more so, it's a deeply personal object to me because it fills me with memories of my childhood back in New Orleans, and of the electronic shops in Singapore. It makes me silent thinking of the past which I tried to capture and share with everyone here.

I don't know what to say.. just wow! Wow wow!!

And a big thanks to everyone.

Three excellent pieces of art.  Congrats, truly worthy winners.

RodsArt ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2007 at 4:46 PM

Congrats to the Winners! It's amazing to see sooo many fantastic entries after a bit of a lull in the challenge arena.

Looking at the top three.... You have Savant, virtually a Newbie, DaM, which has a fair amount of time invested in Bryce, and Phil which is pretty much a veteran. The winners come in with NO certain order based on experience, It's a matter of your tools, imagination, along with the support & inspiration gathered here and in other places. But Damn, Those along with all the other enteries are some ass kickin artwork! Ain't Bryce Grand???? All you Guys ROCK!!  WTG.

Finally, Thanks to all participants for taking the time to stress out and in some cases push your Machines to the Brink of oblivion in this KISS MY GLASS Bryce Challenge.

Death_at_Midnight, drawbridgep & SavantNoir all produced outstanding images.

Although I do not consider someone who has been posting in the Bryce forums since 2003 to be  "brand new" to Bryce, I think special mention should be given to the 3rd place winner,  whos entry was 100% Bryce! SavantNoir, congratulations on 3rd place. Your Bryce work has improved dramatically since your early days as SavantSoir. All entries in this competition were an inspiration to all us real beginners!

Congratulations to all 3 winners and to all the other entrants!

Congratulations!!  Wonderful choices and well deserved!!  I think everyone did a fantastic job and choosing winners was very hard to do....one of the hardest I've ever done.   Impressive works, impressive winners and the challenge was a wonderful chance to explore new knowledge with my favorite ap.

electroglyph ( ) posted Sat, 07 April 2007 at 9:18 AM

Congratulations to all the winners! Especially since there were so many excellent entries in the top dozen or so to choose from. Everyone expects the best to beat the bad. When the best beat the other best I think it means just a little more.
