Hey thought I would clue you guys in on a comic I am doing. Just for fun. I don't use Bryce that extensivly but I do use it. I make backdrops and reflection maps with Bryce. Modeling done in wings3d rendering in PMG Messiah. So here is part 1

Dan, think you're doing a grand job with this.  I've never seen anyone model these kinds of subjects in Wings3D before.  Like your cartoon too.  Still think you ought to submit it to Rendo comics :)

Modeling these in Wings is really cool, I like the series too.

I tried Funnies for Rosity Comics for a short time, it was fun, but I lost interest.
I used Bryce for a few, a couple others 2d stuff.

I am working up to it. I need to have 4 compleated comics they told me before it goes in. Has to be G rated which is OK. One thing is that when they go into the rendo comics they will be half size so better to see them in the gallery.

Burpee Wings lends itself very well to doing characters a lot of messiah users use wings messiah is primarily animation and rigging. That is the third mystry app. Wings has an excellent mirror tool and you really get control over the mesh desity. these meshes are low opoly and then I sub D them in Messiah.

This summer I will be getting back to the states so I am thinking of getting a site up for this comic. I have some more things planned out takes a while to make one after all it is a bit more work than poser.

How low poly are they?
I don't have anywhere near your talent for characters, but am interested in low poly models. I use Wings and 3dsmax to model.

I've seen a lot of your characters in the Wings forum and gallery, always liked your work.

Not really low unless you consider vicky and poser stuff. They tend to fall between 5 and 10 K. Then they are smoothed in messiah which will make them 40-100k for the pics. (distant shots I can  Game stuff isdone a bit different these are basically suited for cartoons. (increadibles etc) wings works great in that range and can make good meshes for sub d later. Max is better at game models since it really likes triangles. Triangles good for games bad for animation and sub D.

Looks good!! I'm thinking you've got more talent in your little finger ...

A curiousity - Don't Carrara and C4D have the capacity to bone characters as well? Why choose Messiah over either one?

Dann-O ( ) posted Mon, 09 April 2007 at 6:43 AM

Econiomics is why. Messiah is 299$. Carrera pro or C4D are a bit more. I think Animation and bones is a plug in for C4D so is HDRI and GI.  Carrera pro is more and I think standard might not do all those things. Messiah is a pretty potent package for the price it does not model though so you have to use modelers that you have.

Not bad... It's a bit early to judge as far as plot development goes... I guess we'll have to wait a few more episodes.

As far as 3D comics using Wings3D, it's not the first. I'd have to say Spaztic Plastic was, unless there's some other ones I don't know about.
