Subject: Any sample scenes available for PLE users?

Wizardkiss ( ) posted Fri, 13 April 2007 at 6:25 AM · edited Tue, 14 January 2025 at 5:24 AM

Apparently the full version of Vue comes with a number of sample scenes but if you try to load them in the PLE version it says there are not available. Is there anywhere one can download some community made sample scenes or something? I find it a lot easier to learn to use new software when I have a few pre-made examples to experiment with.

Apparently the PLE doesn't allow opening scenes made with other versions of Vue but your PLE version, so I'm not sure you could use sample scenes, but you can try downloading some free scenes available here:

If I try to buy anything at Cornucopia3D it says:

"You must register your copy of Vue before purchasing from Cornucopia!"

You'd think they would be rather keen on selling content to PLE users.

@**Wizardkiss   "***You'd think they would be rather keen on selling content to PLE users.".....*not if they cn't be loaded into PLE, t'would be nothing but headaches for them, and it says quite clearly that you can only use the content supplied, unless I guess you create some in V6I PLE and save that. Also there's no sharing of files tween V6I PLE users.. ...

This ain't really true.

I tried it out and i can load all scenes from other vue Versions without problems. The only restriction is that all saved files (Scenes, Plants, athmospheres) are saved in a special format that can only be used by your own vue ESP installation. Loading however is not resticted, so you can load any scenes, objects or plants you find among the freebies section.

I dont know why you must have a registered version of Vue to buy from cornucopia, but i guess it has something to do with the copy protection. Download some freebies from here, much to play with.

Yes, there's loads of free stuff to discover. I'll also upload some recent free stuff for vue as soon as i get done with a project here.

BTW: Export works without limitations, so if you want to play around a bit you can export objects/scenes and so to other formats. I tried exporting some plants to lwo objects and they were actually better then i expected.

I've been doing that as well to get more plants for Imagine3D as I have a convertor that handles everything to .iob  Don't think I'll get the leaves tho but I'll try.. ...

For my .lwo objects the leaves looked quite good, make sure you tick "generate color maps" (and bump) if you want to keep them in the objects. I also tried .cob and .obj but these didnt look very good somehow.
