Subject: v4s feet

jjroland ( ) posted Mon, 09 April 2007 at 10:46 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 12:53 PM

I am sick of them!!!

Anyone know if there is anything out yet to change the look of those toes or no?
I guess it's sorta a v4 sig now that we can change the face, the only thing that remains the same now in every single render you see of v4 is those feet.

What are you sick of? What do you want to change?

StevieG1965 ( ) posted Mon, 09 April 2007 at 11:16 AM

If she's thinking like me...I can't stand them either.  It's the length if the toes, they look like fingers on her feet.  Whenever I use her I make sure she is wearing boots or closed toe shoes.  They just don't look right when you compare them to her whole body.  Miki's feet are the same way, the feet of a 7ft tall woman on the body of a 5ft frame.

But...that could just be me.

^^^^ he basically said it for me.  But real feet look different.  I get tired of seeing the same feet in every single render.  Those feet might have been ok the first 20 times, but I'm over it now.  I'd like to see a morph to make the index toe longer, the pinky toe fatter, the other toes bonier maybe?  Some feet (albeit ugly ones) have very large knuckle (joint?) on the big toe.  Some toes are crooked.  Definately need a morph to make all the toes shorter without having to make the feet smaller in order to achieve it - I'd like to just have them smaller in proportion to the foot.

What about using a magnet?

This was a suggestion I made in the Daz forums when V4 was being developed. The fingers and toes needed to have morphs. I agree that V4's toes are a wee bit long.

Great post, I have morphed V3's toes in Max where I work on the left foot and mirror it to the right one.  I tried it with V4 and when I import it back into Poser, the right toes explode.  I have tried everything I can think of and no dice.  I just import the whole figure back into and the morphs are good on both sides, but the right foot's texture and bump maps get messed up.

I have morphed the feet a bit because its the one thing that just doesnt look realistic.  I know we can put them in shoes, but sometimes you can't and its a shame when everything looks realistic except the feet!

pjz99 ( ) posted Mon, 09 April 2007 at 5:37 PM

It's on my to-do list, to mess around with shortening her toes with a morph made by magnet in Poser.  I've got a render going and it's looking like it will be running quite some time, but I don't imagine it will take more than a couple of hours.  Been meaning to get that done, when I've got something to show I'll post here and see if anyone cares for it, if so I'll offer it free.  I am very optimistic because the toes are all on one bone, shouldn't be difficult.

boeing....the problem may be that V4 is not a symetrical figure....the right foot morphs may not work with the left and vs.
You will have to morph each foot separately.

Okay, here's some progress...  This was done with one magnet and a little morphing with the P7 morph tool.  I'm fairly pleased with the right foot and will get it moved to the left foot.  I'm not terribly interested in going much beyond this e.g. adding separate toe bend morphs, because I'm not likely to use them.  If anyone's interested I'll make a set of INJ/REM poses and offer this as a freebie.

That is really very good.  Any difference from the standard is great.  Would they work with poser6 too?

Yes, should work fine.  This is pretty much complete, it's not the most convenient thing in the world to use because I'm not bright enough to figure out how to put both toes on one slider, but I think it's more flexible to leave both on separate sliders anyway.  I wouldn't think you'd need to slide the damn thing 50 times a scene, basically just:

-load a blank V4
-inject these two morphs
-set them where you want them

  • save the modified V4 back into your Figures library and use that one instead

That looks fantastic!  Nice work.  Can't wait for that to sit in my runtime...next to the lips.  There's gotta be joke there somewhere, but, I'm still not fully awake, so I got nuthin'.  hahaha

These toes look great!!

Mayb its just me but has anyone else noticed she seems to have strange looking hands too??

pjz99 ( ) posted Wed, 11 April 2007 at 11:17 AM

The hands are easier to change by scaling, but harder to fix by magnets because there are many bones.  If you want to change hand size, the scale dials are in the figure, but they're hidden.  There's a pose file by David Eaton that unhides them so you can play with them:

Okay, here's a zip of just the INJ/REM pose files, I'll pretty it up with thumbnails etc. later.

Thanks greatly for the link.. has been a huge source of irritance to me regarding the missing scaling dials!  Appreciate that.

As for her hands.. was just an observation I made this evening whilst playing with her.  Apart from the size they just seem to pose strangely.. for lack of a better description.

I find that the biggest tricks to nice hand posing are Thumb1 up/down, and Pinky1 with some bend to put it in a more casual place.

I don't know how to mention this without seeming to be crassly commerical...   ;-)

Just bear in mind I sold the product, so I don't make anything on future sales.

I wanted to point out that the V4 Gladiator sandals at DAz have what I think is a nice set of feet morphs included, per the pic.

jjroland ( ) posted Wed, 11 April 2007 at 6:43 PM

I wasn't aware.  Thank you for pointing that out.  Now I can have at least 2 foot morph sets = D.

Thanks for these toe MTs. When I first got V2 someone made some very cool and extensive individual toe morphs for her and I use them all the time. Think they were called Funky Toes for V2 and if I recall they were available here. What can I tell ya...gotta ting'bout feets! :) Far as I am concerned both Posette, V2 and V3 had cute feet. Stephy 3 were too long as far as feet went and all the other figures in the Poser6 and Poser 7 including Miki and TY2 generations have ugly feets! Got V4 when she first came out but with my slackslow system still haven't installed. From what I have seen the toes are well shaped but way too long...but I know a lot of young girls today that have exactly the same sized feet with similar long toes. Don't like them though. I heard she does have big toe MTs. is that true? And to apply these toe mts you were kind enough to supply us feets fetishists...I assume I would have to select the body before applying the injections (sorry, not familiar with injections either! ). :)

pjz99 ( ) posted Fri, 13 April 2007 at 7:38 PM

Yes, basically select any bodypart and load the pose, and the sliders will appear on lToe/rToe in one of the branches.  I wouldn't call these cute but they're certainly shorter, which was the goal... still need to package them properly :/

There are morphs to move the big toe around, and another to "point" the smaller toes, not too much besides.  The JSMs for bend//twist for toe movement are quite smooth though.
