THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: where, oh where....

So I was just wondering if anyone knows what happened to Orbital...he just seems to have disappeared.  Anyone know why?

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 12:37 PM

I bet he's up in that balloon again! But I wonder where.....

FCLittle ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 1:40 PM

I'll add this....I went to his gallery and it's completely empty...makes me think he had a falling out with renderosity or something....sigh....

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 1:49 PM

If so, that would be very unfortunate and regretable! He is a terrific artist and a good guy, and he has shared freely with his Bryce knowledge and techniques and even with his models. Say it ain't so Joe!

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 2:34 PM

That is strange. It's empty! What's going on?

Attached Link: Orbital's Gallery

His images are still up at 3D Commune, last one was Feb 16th.

danamo ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 7:27 PM

I can't even find his Bryce/PS sky tutorial here, so it leads me to believe that Joe may be disenchanted with R'osity for some reason.

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 9:53 PM

Strange. And that was a good tutorial too. Makes me wonder about when I'm ready to do my own tutorial for my coffee foam to just make it a PDF file so ppl can save a copy of it locally. Too many good tutorials get lost forever from websites that no longer exist.

DAM: Very true, thats one part of the web I dont like.  Great information being lost.

My memory could be wrong... wasnt there an Tutorial by Orbital on DAZ3d under the Bryce category showing how to use masking to put Real photos of clouds into the render?  I think the tutorial was based on this image.  I no longer see this tutorial on Daz3D.

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 11:24 PM

Hrm, I don't know about the DAZ site, probably was the same as the tutorial here. Was the same image. Basically have Bryce do some masks, take to photoshop, put a cloud image and the mask objects; don't forget to mirror the cloud image and put that with the water.

But what got me was where he get all them fantastic clouds?

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 11:27 PM

Hrm, I could host tutorials as PDF's on my web site.

I rather hope it's some hacker instead of himself. Would mean he'll be back if it was a hacker. He's on my favorite list too. He seems to be on good terms with everyone here. I haven't seen a negative sounding post from him. The last I remember is he was happy about one of his renders for a space showing/convention thing. You think he's going pay-per-view like that digitalblasphemy.com place and thus limiting where his free images are? I dunno.. wild speculations.

Hi Guys, I'm still here. About six weeks ago I had a moment of madness whereby I was about to jack it all in and deleted everything. Since then I realised that this was a stupid mistake and I feel I rather acted on a daft impulse. At the time I no longer felt the pasion for art, and the space exhibition mentioned was playing big time on my mind. I thought I was way in over my head and was panicking about the whole thing.
But I just got back today from the USA, and what can I say? Well it was a huge success, and I may be on the road to actually doing this for a living. I'll post some details etc with pictures tomorrow, right now I gotta get some sleep, as I've been up for about 30 hrs after coming in on the redeye.
Also sorry to everyone who ever took the time to comment on my stuff, I feel deleting the gallery was insulting to everyone. I now realise that this recent personal sucess was only possible becuase of the support you guys gave me from the start.
Take care
Joe

Welcome back! You were missed. We were beginning to panic that you might have left. Comments can always be added again, but your art is one-of-a-kind. Welcome back!

FCLittle ( ) posted Thu, 19 April 2007 at 2:29 PM

Great to see you're still here....welcome back!

Analog-X64 ( ) posted Thu, 19 April 2007 at 4:39 PM

Its Ok orbital,  I know exactly what you mean.  I've dont the same thing in the past... but the good thing is you realised the error and got back on track.

Welcome back!! :) Looking forward to seeing more of you work and hearing about your future prospects.

danamo ( ) posted Thu, 19 April 2007 at 9:06 PM

Welcome Back! I can relate to what you said, and I think I understand. I've had a few "daft"impulses myself lately and I very nearly deleted my own humble gallery.  I'm very glad that the U.S. trip went so well for you. This was definitely a large feather to stick in your cap and I'm sure it's a sign of even greater things to come

Glad to see you haven't left us Joe!
