Subject: What's the trick to saving a V4 hand pose?

jwiest ( ) posted Sat, 21 April 2007 at 4:31 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:25 AM

I've got a pose set I'm working on and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the entire pose to save.  I know how to add a pose to Poser in general to save it off, but with V4 at least (haven't tried any others) the morphs/dials on the hands don't seem to save off for me.  The grasp ones and spread and so forth.  If I bend a finger joint by joint it works, but if I use the grasp dial it doesn't.

Sure doesn't make sense to me.  Hopefully it's some simple thing I'm forgetting.  :)

Try the "PoseSave Python script" from Ajax' homepage. It should have no problems saving the poses.

The basic problem is Poser does not save MorphForm information (like Grasp, Spread) when you save a pose, so if you've used MorphForms to make a pose they're left out of whatever you save.  DAZ|Studio will save them, but I don't think they'll load correctly in Poser.  I don't know about that script Dizzi cites, I'm interested in checking it out myself.

That script  Dizzi posted has made life easy for me as far as saving poses for V4.

Thanks for the tips on that Python Script.  I'll give it a try and hope for the best.  Sure seems weird that dials that can be adjusted in Poser wouldn't be saved off, but guess that's what happens when you get EF & DAZ not playing nice with each other...or something like that.
