Subject: Problems Resizing Terrains

mathman ( ) posted Sun, 22 April 2007 at 8:33 AM · edited Sat, 04 January 2025 at 11:35 AM

Hi all,

I have added two terrains to my scene. I add a third terrain and move it. I then attempt to resize it (using the global resizing handles), but nothing happens.

It doesn't appear to be running out of memory as I am still able to move it around, and there is no other strange behavior.

Any help, please ?

thanks,
Andrew

I've run into that with all sorts of stuff, not just terrains. For me, restarting Vue solves the problem. What version are you using... I'm on V6I

Thanks. I use V5Esprit. I've noticed that the problem is more pronounced when I drag the terrain beyond the perimeter of the ground.

When you restart Vue, I assume you save your scene beforehand and then open it up again when you've restarted ? .... otherwise you might end up going thru' the same hassle...

Not sure if I had the same problem in V5, but probably did (I generally ignore the perimeter of the ground when resizing, but recall that at one time... maybe in V4... that was a big problem). In answer to your question, tho, I save everything.... and always with a new name.  Just delete the old files once you know you don't need them anymore.

So, does restarting solve your problem?

I'm at work now, I'll try when I get home and let you know.
Thanks for your help :)
BTW your avatar is really weird ! :)

When the zoom factor (see bottom status bar) is circa 3% or inferior, global resizing using the corner dots of  objects is most of the time impossible.
this is a bug  since Vue4 Pro. (still fighting to get this one fixed..)
With Vue6, openGl, using the gizmo allows such resizing at low zoom factors.

Thanks, Polax. That makes a lot of sense, seeing as I had it zoomed down to a very low figure.

Sounds like Polax solved your problem, mathman?

Hope you meant weird in a good way. Since I'm just an old hippie (fossil, actually), that avatar is the real me. :-)

Yes I think so, DigReal ... and yes I meant "weird" in the best way ... very creative :)
