Subject: anyone else had render problems on vista ( p7)

MatronAdena ( ) posted Mon, 23 April 2007 at 4:03 PM · edited Fri, 09 August 2024 at 11:08 AM

right now Im running on vista home premium, and useing poser 7.
Hardware wise I know I should be ace, however there seems to be a problem when it comes to rendering.

still frams seem to render alright, at first the pc would actually freeze for a moment but the more I used poser the less it happened.

this can not be said when rendering a movie.  once the  " make movie-   movie settings" tab pops up it works fine until I click " make movie" at which point the whole program freezes.

any help or insite in how to fix this or what's causing it.

If it helps I run 3ds Max 9, and Maya 7 with no problems what so ever, only poser ( 6, and 7) seems to have this problem.

What graphics board/chipset do you have and what's your driver version?

If you are trying to run the render as a separate process, you will need to convince Vista's firewall that this is not a security breach, as it will block the program from executing. You might also need to run this as admin (if you aren't already). I have a notebook with Vista, and have just started to experiment (no Vista on my main machines, thankyouverymuch.....)

the graphics is nividia g-force 6100 n force, also running a directx 10

I am doubting really that it's a problem graphic related, again as my 3ds max9 and Maya ( both have much greater demands for rendering) run flawlessly, Im pretty sure its a issue with Vista and Poser itselfsome snag in it someplace

There are a good number of problems with Poser under Vista that are resolved by updating to the latest graphics drivers as provided by the manufacturer (NVIDIA in your case). This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how demanding different applications are. Since Poser uses OpenGL, DirectX capabilities don't matter.

I run it with UAC Off and I am not having any freezes. Different Video, but not too different. Most of the issues with Poser and Vista deal with UAC and Permissions. I hear a lot of people start having troubles as soon as they add another User, but no other changes.

I changed the compatibility of Poser 7 to Win XP and haven't had a problem since with my new notebook and Vista home premium.
