Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 12:46 am)
Looks like it's the memory. From e-frontier's website:
"This memory handling updater will allow Poser 4.03 users who have greater than 1 GB of total memory (RAM + virtual memory = more than 1 GB) to run normally. Please use this to update Poser 4/Artist ONLY- Pro Pack users should download the Pro Pack Memory Updater."
Now, if only I could get the site to let me download the darn file.
The problems are you are running software designed for windows 95 on windowsxp pro, are running far too much memory for it to handle, and haven't applied th elatest patches and fixes, which still won't really get it anywhere near up to snuff with the latest poser.. heck P5 is like 20 bucks.. just upgrade at least to that!
You would be better served even running the free daz studio program then running P4, IMHO.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Howdy folks,
I've been using Poser 4 for quite a while now on several different machines. I ran it for the first time in a little while, and it fails to work.
The symptoms are that the preview window appears to be white, with a fixed-size square in the upper-left hand corner the color of the background color. No objects (figures, ground planes, etc.) are visible in the window, regardless of which camera is used or what orientation it has. Rendering the scene locks Poser while calculating the shadow map.
Poser had been running on this machine for over a year prior to this happening. Here are some of the changes that occured since the last time Poser had been successfully run:
Upgraded video card to GeForce 8800 GTS.
Increased RAM to 2GB; virtual memory to 6GB.
Now running dual-monitors, 22" widescreen @1680x1050 and 19" standard @1280x1024.
The operating system for this machine is Windows XP Pro, so that shouldn't be the issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
