Subject: Well it's official....this is my favorite store! :)

Lyne ( ) posted Wed, 18 April 2007 at 11:19 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 3:29 PM

I have been thinking of how I shop...and realized I spend MORE here than anywhere else now...I may spend a third of my "on line allowance" at DAZ, but I do spend 2/3 here each month...and spend more time overall here.. :) I won't talk about the stores that used to get all my $$....just to say they have changed sooo much and narrowed their products instead of more variety....

I think it IS the variety, the friends, the helpful staff, the instant communication, the best galleries for sharing/getting comments, the notices of my fav vender's new stuff etc... I may buy some clothes at DAZ but then I have to rush over here to see what texture sets I can find for it... or colors for hair... or.. !!

Sure glad I stuck it out over the BIG CHANGE and glad of the great patients of the staff during that time!!

one thing I've noticed about these guys, in relation to all the other poser-related sites. they may not be perfect, and they may make misteaks just like the lot of us. but they are much more mature and confident about dealing with criticism than the other big sites IMVHO. try bad-mouthing the policies elsewhere, and be prepared to be flamed up the wazoo, or just banned and deleted

Thank you for the kind words!  Talk about a GREAT way to start a Thursday :)

Because of the changes in policies over the past year and a half, this has gone from my favorite store and Poser site to my third or fourth.  I go out of my way to try to find out if merchants sell items in other stores or contact them via e-mail to set up a paypal transaction if I'm not in a time-sensitive situation.  An RMP purchase is the last resort.

Instead of coming in to the boards to complain incessantly about the changes, I decided to vote with my wallet.  I have cut my spending in this store by 54% since the announcement of the new gallery thumbnail policy, over the same period the year prior.  I also cut my Gallery Plus subscription.  I'm sure I'm not the biggest spender in this store, but I do know that I spend a non-trivial amount of my salary on Poser / rendering content, and it's the only way I can really show that I don't agree with the "cleaning up" of the galleries.

While I don't want it to seem I'm all sour grapes, I will readily admit that this store has probably the widest selection of content available anywhere, with quality that is higher than several other sites out there.  The quality control for the store here does a very good job of keeping it that way.

I also still post here because the remaining Poser community is second to none.  However, do to the aforementioned policy changes, many talented and friendly faces have moved on to greener pastures.  Too many.  All I can think is, it didn't have to be this way.

Personally (in other words-mt opinion) I think the 'no nudity' in the thumbnail change was not a bad thing at all as it means that more people get to view the site and therefore your work/writings...more people to answer questions in the forum etc.  It's really a good thing I think but not everyone will agree with me there I'm sure :)

as a producer of porno toons, I hafta agree reluctantly that the "no nude thumbs" rule is justifiable, if it prevents even 1 person from being fired from his job whilst viewing this site at work.

It's very interesting reading what is  everyones favourite store. So much surplus money. Personally my favourite store is Anwars fruit and veg store in Nagar. About 20 K from Manali.

ROTFLMAO @ Khai

Khai ( ) posted Wed, 25 April 2007 at 2:43 PM

well.. I've got a 50 year old house here I'm renovating.. today it's the laundry room - removing the re-enforced concrete sink (leaking and so much limescale in the drainage hole it's beyond cleaning and repair), so it's smashing time to get that out so I can put the new sink in...

then on the list is a new roof... ripping out the deck steps (front and side) and replacing them.. repairing the fence line, removing the old chimney stack before it falls down.... yup the Fubar would be very useful to me...  ah well off to do that sink....

(So far I've renovated the inside of the house, new floors in the basement, painting, having the upper floors sanded and refinished (had to move muminlaw out and back in for that... more effort than the floors) built fences round the property to keep the hounds in, sanded and painted the side deck, closed in the front deck (to stop Smiley Hound going over the fence), painted the house......)

Hey Khai,

Off Topic but I want to see pics of the kitties.

Khai ( ) posted Wed, 25 April 2007 at 4:07 PM

I'll get you some lol

ok that was quicker than I thought. did'nt take long to demolish the sinks... the concrete was rotten and had 1 massive crack from rim to rim in one sink... tho carting it out is taking longer lol.. 5 10-15lbs buckets so far and I think about 3 more to go... (on a union teabreak right now) then put the new sink in and plumb that in... should be about 2 hours more in all...

Yeah, I can't think of too many places on the 'net dealing in digital 3D art supplies which would have the...ummm... integrity to allow a product such as this: http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=55962& , which is obviously well ahead of its time.....

And people make fun of Wal Mart. ;)

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

Yes that's an impressive example of Renderositys products Mike. This is one of my favourites
http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewImage=30641
I'm a little bewildered, however, because obviously one would have to have a legitimate copy of Photoshop to use this product which means, therefore, one would have a manual in which case production of ones own "pubic" brushes would be very simple. Still I guess if money is no object..

MikeJ ( ) posted Fri, 04 May 2007 at 10:20 PM

Hmmm.....
Yeah, well, whaddya want, y'know?
Think about it, Renderosity is well in line with History herself:
Consider: There's a sucker born every minute. Althoigh I've never heard the follow-up to that, I'd assume it'd be something like, "And I aim to supply..."....

The really F'd-up thing is that there are enough desperate people out there willing to sacrifice any integrity they might have just to make less than 50% of the profits, if there are any...

And of course, let's not even get into the incredible LACK of artistic integrity which goes into the idea to just allow anything that 'works' into the store.

If I were one of those who makes his income approving some of this crud, I would hang my head in shame and never, ever tell anybody about my job.....

Lyne ( ) posted Sun, 13 May 2007 at 4:34 PM

Heavens....talk about OT....but anyway...still where I spend the most of my money, since many talented folks seem to have left the other major store lately (not naming names)...

and I shall be un-subscribing...but at least shared my opinion and saw some laughs! :))
