Subject: Yes, I'm back with another post about P7 SR1.1

Darboshanski ( ) posted Fri, 27 April 2007 at 9:54 PM · edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 7:04 PM

Well, I tried it and to be honest I can't see much difference from SR1 outside of the fact it seems to make poser render much slower. Of course I wasn't experiencing many of the problems that  a lot of other folks were (Knocks on head 'cause it's made of wood) but I honestly can't see a big difference. Okay, maybe a figure deleted 5 seconds faster than before but I'm not feeling the love from 1.1. Wow....all these X.1 stuff coming along and it seems to be hosing things up more than helping. I just finished un-installing P7 and doing a clean install with SR1 and all seems to be okay.

One problem I noticed with 1.1 on my end was that smart props I had created before SR1.1 were not smart propping to the figures. They'd just come into poser in strange places and when you clicked on them it was like they were not there. Not sure of it was a SR1.1 or backlash from V4.1.

How is everyone else doing with the SR1.1 update?

I haven't seen any problems with smart props.  Just tried an older one to be sure,
and it works fine......

I don't own any Vicky stuff at all, so maybe V4 is your problem.

No problems with SR1.1 whatsoever.  Love the fixed external renderer able to do area render.  Love that MAT poses no longer cause the figures to freak out.  Use V3 and V4 and haven't had any issues w/ smart props either.  Rendering takes the same time as SR1, which was about the same as no SR, which is still faster by far than Poser 6 shrug.

No problems here.  And some render issues seem to have been fixed in SR1.1.  I can now completely render scenes that used to go part way and then dump out with memory errors prior to SR1.1.

I'd just like to see them do something about whatever the hell Poser needs to do between hitting ctrl+R (render) and ESC (cancel), 'cause it totally overrides all other processes while it figures out how to stop doing the render.
Lightwave doesn't do that, Max doesn't do that, and Vue doesn't either; these programs actually stop right away, but...Poser...... I guess it has to think as much how to NOT do someting as it does how to execute a command to continue......

Perhaps it views it as an insult?

In any event, in my software experience, "Cancel" means just that - cease;desist, give up.
Typically it requires little thinking to just.give.up...yet Poser treats it as if it were a significant command.
I doubt that's a bug, though - I figure it's more of a "what does that have to do with rendering titties" thing, and therefore, not a major concern for many.....

Thanks that is just a small sample of what I have. I've been imaging some more of my collection to put up. I've gotten pretty good at coin photograpy. Besides hanging out here I also hang out over at the PCGS forums too.

Hmmm I'd like to try it again but I can't keep uninstalling and then installing poser over and over again. Sometimes I wish I had another computer to see if it was the V4.1 issue or the Sr1.1.

I've installed Mojoworld 3.11 after the update (7.1.1) - but it's not possible to import a PZ3 into Mojoworld - If I point to my poser.exe ist says: "incorrect poser-version".
I think I have to uninstall P7 and then re-install ist again.

pjz99 ( ) posted Sat, 28 April 2007 at 8:26 AM

I suspect you're going to need to get an update to Mojoworld, it sounds to me like it is reading version info out of poser.exe which would be hard coded into the file.

Well, I reinstalled the SR1.1 update and it seems to be working. Even the area render is working now. I guess a clean install and getting rid of V4.1 did the trick as all my smart props, commercial and self created, are now working as they should. Yeah!!! Three cheers and a tiger for me I have won! Err....that came from a bugs bunny cartoon you know the one where he finds the genie named smoky in the lamp ( voice is Jim Backus aka Thurston Howell III). um yeah....sorry I'll go take pictures of coins now.

You mentioned v4.1, that is a whole different Cat.

You should still have v4.0, correct?
How do the smart props work on v4.0????

Oh yes I didn't delete V4.0 for nothing nope not until I thought V4.1 was okay. All props and figures work well with V4.0 no problems. I also found out that some of the problem with some smart props was a certain dress for JessieG2. When that was applied first it made the props come in wonkey. If I brought the smart props in first and then the dress there was not problem.
I still do see some wackoness, is that even a word? LOL, when applying poses I still see the legs twitch when the pose is applied. But all and all I'm pleased and I'm not doing anymore updates until I sit back and see how others are doing with them first.

That's interesting.  Now you've got my curiosity riled up,,,

What is the dress?  If it's not too expensive I might just buy one to see what's
going on.

That JessieG2 dress isn't one of those conformer types mislabeled as a .pp2 dress by chance? e-f now likes to put .cr2 conformer clothes under props now with that .pp2 just to see if they can't confuse things more. I keep waiting for it to possibly cause weirdness some where down the line someplace. :P

No it's labeled as a .CR2 but it's the only thing that does it. I love the dress it was made by Mint and Dave71 and it looks real good on JessieG2. I have posted the link.

I just joined that site and the banknote site too, and I'm slowly in the process of uploading pics of some of the items in my collections (I mainly collect US coins and world banknotes.

Sr1.1 seems to be working OK for me .  I have just downloaded and installed all the V4.1 Pro bundle upgrade and haven.t tried any of it yet -- if I have probs I will post them.

It appears to work just fine for me in poser 7 SR1.1

Cheers
