Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 24 11:54 pm)
I have been searching all over for models of australian plants too. I am an american with dual US/Aussie citizenship (and 1/8 Wiradjuri blood), and would love to make some Australia nature/bush scenes.
So far, the only Australia models I know of are a kangaroo/wallaby set at Vista, and some models on the lightwave content CD of the Opera Hopuse and the Harbour bridge.
If you download the demo of Google SketchUp, you can download and export several Australian buildings (including Centrepoint Tower (sydney), as well as the entire Brizzie skyline. Also the VisaPro CD includes an Uluru Dem. It's public domain, so soon I will make an .obj of it for use in Poser available in freestuff.
Other than that the only thing I know of is that set of Australia flags I uploaded in freestuff this past jan, (to commemorate my first Australia day since getting my Ausssie citizenship).
There are a few online sites from which you can download scans of australian currency to use as textures (on Poser squares stretched into the appropriate shapes) to make Australian notes.
But, c'mon, how about some gum trees, wattles, gidgee trees, etc?
I'm surprised that Australia is the only continent not covered by XFrog's tree models/billboards.

Quote - Koalas are not bears. They're marsupials.
When I grew up, they were always referred to as koala bears. I never had a chance to ask one if it was the right family. If you do a Google search for "koala bear", as an exact phrase, there are over 300,000 hits.
I did see a somewhat toonish koala at TurboSquid, as well as some kangaroos, so you might want to go there and laugh at the prices (some were in the $40 range, so they're not as ridiculous as they sometimes are).

Thanks, but they don't offer the items by download link: they send it to you on CD via snail mail so you are subject to S&H fees unless your order is a certain amount of money.
That $12.00 item would probably take 3 weeks to get here (the border is parcel paranoid these days), and after S&H and currency exchange I'm looking at close to $25 or $30 Canadian depending on the mode of shipping..if it's by UPS I can expect to pay UPS's additional fees to process the border papers, which can amount to 50 to 100% of the cost of the total....I know I've had it happen with UPS with every item I've even had sent to me through them. Imagine ordering something from the US for $195.00 and have UPS show up at your door demanding you pay them $100.00 for brokerage fees, before they will give you the parcel!!!! Or having them demand an additional $48.00 in brokerage fees for an item you paid $59.99 for!!!

I'm an Aussie, and I've gotten stuff from vista with no problems, or excess costs. They have always been prompt and reliable. I've gotten my stuff usually within a week of ordering..jusst chose your ordering time..order early in the week, not the weekend, and usually you'll get it within the week.. I should imagine Canada would be even quicker ?
I'm still waiting for someone to make a model of my avatar - i promise my first born to anyone that can make me a Thylacine - Struth! - I'd even settle for a Tasmanian Devil...
The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of
it alive.

I have also ordes a lot from Vista -I uselly do taht once a year - after I have been saving up to I can buy enough for get the free shiping.
And I don't know how it works in Canada, but here, in Sweden there is never a problem - i uselly gets my stuff within a week and no extra coasts.
So if I order for 30 USD then I just pay 30 USD, no border fees and other stuff.
And the stuff is darn good.

I'm sure there's a Redback Spider model somewhere in poserland - possibly even as a freebie - stick that in a toilet bowl - render it and you have a classic Australia image for your friend.
You're more likely to see a Redback than a Kangaroo or Koala in Australia unless you go to a national park or zoo or something.
Cheers
Empken has a few Australian parrots coming out soon (check out the new ones)

Probably the the easiest place to find what ReMix birds are available is to check the ReMix bird plate Library (http://www.empken.com/SongbirdReMix/sbrmplates.htm),
On the left column, you'll notice a List starting with North America.... scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you'll see Australian Birds. Click the bird on the list and the render (with no postwork) will appear in the right frame. Hover the mouse over bird name on the list and small window will appear telling you what package it's in or whether it's free in my downloads.
4 Australian parrots should be released in the next week or so (at DAZ) in my "Parrots of the World" package. Which 4? The Galah, Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, Crimson Rosella and the Night Parrot. "Pet Shop" has a healthy dose of Australian birds too (Budgies, Zebra and Gouldian Finches and Cockatiel). Since you have SBRM2, in my free downloads there's the lesser and greater sulfur crested cockatoos (http://www.empken.com/downloads/downloads2.html). I'll be updating those within a week with a new improved cockatoo crest.
And finally, those of you with DAZ|Studio, I have updates available to make your DS birds load and look a lot better in my download section.

A friend of mine asked if I could make her something "Australian. " Other than an Aussie flag I had no clue what she was talking about, so she mention a kangaroo, wombat or a koala bear. I don't recall ever seeing any models for those animals. Are there any?
