In the art world, does any training matter as much as a good portfolio that shows what the artist is capable of doing?

At this time (in the EU) there are NO formal academic qualifactions involving Poser directly.  Helgard has been working with Invent and other companies to try and rectify this. Try the link above.

There are some companies sometimes called 'corporate universitys' who claim they can train you and 'award' you a 'degree' for assorted software packages such as poser.

However these degrees and studys are not recognised by genuine universitys and academic authoritys. Generally they have as much value as a chocolate teapot!

A better bet would be to find an art, business or IT course at a legit real world college or uni and use Poser as a tool for your coursework.

For example - I've used Poser a few times in academic study to create stuff for Open University web design courses (www.open.ac.uk) and for my BiT/HND.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

If you find a way to make money with Poser - besides being a merchant or writing a book about it - please let me know!!

westcat ( ) posted Fri, 04 May 2007 at 7:54 AM

OK thanks all

In other words, don't waste your time. Maybe book or fantasy mag covers. I think a few make money that way.

Why not commercials? Are peopel using it to make commercials?

TylerZambori ( ) posted Sun, 06 May 2007 at 1:52 PM

And besides, the first ever 3D cartoon TV series in India was done
with Poser:

Maybe people just have preconceptions about it that aren't
correct, and they don't want to change.

jjroland ( ) posted Sun, 06 May 2007 at 1:54 PM

They are using Poser in them yes, but the people hired to do the commercials probably have more expertise than just poser.  Refer to Mrsparky post for what a possible candidate for that might have done.
