Bamboo bicyles. A few years ago I came across some sites about building bicyles from bamboo. I've come across them again. Fairly interesting. Two sites....

Well, I'm a cyclist, and I thought this was going to be stupid.
Can't believe how good and strong it looks!

Dont think I'm at the level to design one though :(

Ya! They seem to be getting more popular since the last time I've read up on them. Here's another site.... they'll build one for about $2000 to $3000 +/-.

Sounds a lot, but I paid about 500 for my Giant OCR about 5 years ago, and just paid a 130 service bill on it last week! Unfortunatley, if this ever came to the UK you can bet the greedy UK would do there usual $1 = 1 instead of the actual money conversion.

I believe if you look around more, you'll also find WWII era bamboo or wooden bikes. They were being made that way because metals were being recycled and used to supply the war effort. They're probably collectables now.
