You will have at least one more when I find something unusual. : )

Is it me? Are people not into Simon or DITIs right now, or do I have bad breath? ;']

No, it's definitely you Kort!!!!  LOL!!  Only joking.

I don't really have anything unusual except for this bug which Darren found in our hedge a couple of weeks ago and decided to bring in for me to photograph.  Really easy you might think..... NO!  The little (or not so little about and inch and a half long!) bugger kept flying off!!
I've no idea what it is but it sure looks like a set of antlers on it.
I prepped it to upload to the gallery, but the focus isn't that good, so decided not to - so you can have it instead Kort hee hee!!

That's a May bug, Chrissy. They live as larvae under the ground for 3 to 4 years before developing into adults and coming to the surface when the're about 3-4 cm big (usually in May). Typical that it was found in a hedge, because that's where you usually find them. There used to be lots of them some 30 years ago, but they have almost gone extinct in some areas. I saw my first one in 30 years a few weeks ago...

Now that we're into bugs, here's a Cosmic Bug...

That really bugs me! ;'P Seriously, nice one guys. Luv that cosmic effect of the speckled glass Geert, and neat find there Chrissy. We have similar beetles here called June bugs, but I've never seen one with antlers before.

Thanks for that - I suppose it's quite apt that we found it in May then!!!

So did you go to outer space for your cosmic bug shot?? LOL! xx

Inner space actually... shot it in my living room looking outside. And it's not really speckled glass, Kort... it's just my window gone dirty (blushes) :blushing:

This isnt exactly unusual - i live in a student town after all... but i thought it might fit with the common conception of "unusual" ;)

Taken on my 2mp phone camera... always handy when you dont have your cam on hand to catch this kind of shot...

I apologize if this is disturbing...I was walkin thru the local park and happened to look up for some reason and see THIS....a Turkey Vulture met an untimely death...strangled and hung by what appears to be fishing line or possibly KITE STRING

TomDart ( ) posted Tue, 15 May 2007 at 6:41 PM

I never see vultures up close, always in the sky looking for thermals. Yes, not a kind sight but post worthy for certain.

Rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb. Thats one bugger of a bug there Chrissy, I'd be freaked to find it!  I'm afraid I've been a bit quiet here on the forum lately, I'm in the middle of selling and moving house and amongst other things is keeping me busy/stressed/grumpy. I got a new Fujifinepix F31fd, now so might be a bit more active soon. DITI's and Simons cannot die!!!!
