Hello all, take a look at the images enter for the contest at Big-i by bloodsong and yours sincerely.

Bill, your marlin and tuna image is incredible. The roll of the waves makes me seasick, which is a compliment -- it means the image makes me feel like I'm right there. :) I also like your conceptual piece, but what I'd like to know is, how do you know that the square egg tastes the same as the round one? :) Bloodsong did a great job with the "Pull" image, and the elephant memory is a very cool idea, nicely done. Man, I also like the images by Audre, who posts at Renderosity a lot with excellent works, and many of the others. This is another tough competition, up against some strong talent! Good luck to both Bill and Bloodsong! :)

Thanks Varian :) Egg taste?....LOL!...guess they are both eggs and done sunny-side up...done add light soya source or fine salt to one of them though...they should taste the same :)

Hi Tesign, I was searching through the VUE gallery at Renderosity and couldn't find your name or images anywhere. Did you take all your stuff out?...

tesign ( ) posted Wed, 16 May 2001 at 9:21 PM

Hi FM, yes I did and normally I leave my images at the very most six for about 2 months or more and later refresh with new ones. Did explain it here earlier though :)

oh no! geeze, tesign, if you're in that contest, i'm screwt :) not that i held much hope of getting any prize, with all that talent there. it's gonna be a tough one.

Not to worry bloodsong, in every contest, just like socceer game...the ball is round. The image may be nice and outstanding but may not be what the judges are looking for. I have been in contest where some images and effort really speak for itself and they were even not consolation...LOL! Anyway, wish us all the best and like you said, it's a tough one. I have not seen the rest of the entries as I have problem posting and reading at Big-i. I dunno what the problem is actually. Are there a lot of entries now?

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 17 May 2001 at 9:29 PM

kinda OT, but I have problems with Big-I, too. I can read posts, view the galleries, browse the treasure chests, but I can't post. I saw at least 20 entries when I checked it out earlier. Maybe closer to 30. And they were GOOD! They were AWESOME and STUNNING! They were the MOST INCREDIBLE CG ART EVER SEEN! hehe...worry ya? 0:-)

Hey Varian...you have to login in order to post. For me, after logging in and post reply, I don't even see my own reply. Any reply hereafter to your reply (as some others can see your post), I can even read them as the forum thread itself don't get updated. What!? 30?..wow!...I don't remember it was that much.

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 17 May 2001 at 10:11 PM

I just re-checked and counted. No more entries are being accepted, and they have a total of 73!! =:o I would say the competition is not quite as fierce as it was for BBay's contest, but there are at least 30 very good pictures. And yes, you're right that it mainly depends on what the judges are looking for. I get logged in okay, but it still won't let me post at Big-I. Weirdness...

Mike and bloodsong seem to get thru okay...hey!...are you both getting thru okay? What about Laurie?

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2001 at 8:12 AM

heyas; well, i'm outta the contest. i think. i thought they sent me an email that said they didn't like my stuff. maybe i was dreaming...? anyway, what? oh, yeah, i can post at big i okay. laurie's a mod over there, she has no problems :) the site is very slow, though. and i never really sat around looking for stuff i had just posted, so i dont know how long it takes to come up. they did have a glitch with the contest upload thing at one point in time. i know that got me. but later, it worked fine.

"well, i'm outta the contest. i think. i thought they sent me an email that said they didn't like my stuff. maybe i was dreaming...?" Hey bloodsong....I got a better one at least..here is the @mail message - "Thank you for participating and all the effort you put in for your entries. It was a very difficult decision to make for the judges to short list down to three to see who should be the choice winner. However, we have decided to give away some last minute prizes to the last six short listed entries. Congratulation! :) as one of your entry has made it to the 5th place. For this, you would receive a copy of WinZip 9 demo. We would keep you posted once the final result are published. We are letting you know early prior to the contest result because we are afraid that some of the contestant may be of old age and may get a heart attack when they expect to win but did not. Please do not disseminate this notification otherwise we might forfeit your WinZip 9 for free copy of WinZip 5 instead. Again, thank you for your fine support to the contest".
