Subject: Props Club Kaput ?

Ridley5 ( ) posted Wed, 16 May 2007 at 10:40 PM · edited Thu, 21 November 2024 at 11:19 PM

Does anyone know if propclub is still open ?   I just recently joined, but failed to get a subscription confirmation notice or download links.  I also noticed that morphworld30.com, traveler's main site, is closed so I'm thinking this cant be good.  Any help would be appreciated :)

Don't know what's up with the props club, been later and later. And I just got an email from poserworld asking for more money, even though I paid for the year. Not happy about that. Won't be signing up again after my year is up.

ramdass--

You should try contacting Traveler through the email at the link Acadia provided or through RDNA.
I subscribed on May 10 and three hours was emailed the link for that week's prop. AFAIK the props club is still going strong.

i got an email from poserworld a day or two ago, saying they were updating/changing their website. One of the guys who runs PW also does propsclub I think. They sound like they are pretty busy and also strapped for cash at the moment. I think things will get better soon. I donated some money to PW to try and help as I really like their stuff and they are nice people too. Love esther

Props Club is definitely up and running as both myself and a friend joined on the 13th May.  I got my email through fine with my subscription details but she didn't and had to chase up for it - reason being her spam filter munched the reply.

The Props Club is run by Eric aka Traveler at Runtime DNA, he's not affiliated with PoserWorld.

I know it's not the same. I was just mentioning it because it seems that some of the sites that do subs are getting a bit tired. I know that Trav has had things going on in his life that keep him running, and I don't mind that his products are sometimes late because he always does high quality. I have been with him since he started and have not been disappointed.
Same with Poserworld, I have been with them most of the time, but was shocked that they would send out that email.  I have no problem with them leaving the site as it is, I am able to download the items without a problem. I just don't understand why they would ask subscribers to update their site. Be like Sam's club saying they want more money to put in better carts.

Well,

I'm torn... and I'm broke. I am frequently frustrated with the outdated PoserWorld setup. But at this time, I can't afford to give more money to update their site. It also seems to me that this community is rich in people who do that sort of thing for a living and that perhaps a deal could be reached in order to get the website refurbished. But hey, it's not my call or my website.

I love bartering! I got my brother turned onto it too and he remodelled his house for less than the wholesale cost price of the materials involved.  He actually struck a deal with a lighting company who did all of the lights and house wide surround sound in his house. In exhange for the installation of the lights he put  installed a bay window in the owners house, and allowed them to take pictures of the finished light setup to use  in their advertising.  The strangest barter he did was a funeral plot in exchange for some materials for his house. You can get some wonderful things and services when you trade/barter for things.

FlyByNight ( ) posted Thu, 17 May 2007 at 3:35 PM

Traveler stated several weeks ago in one of the Props Club emails that Thursday is the new day for the prop of the week. He said Mondays were just too busy for him. I always have the weekly notice in my mail box by Friday and Trav keeps us informed when he is delayed posting. And previously when late we would receive 2 props for that week! His work is exceptional.

I'm not made of money and barely make it by month to month, but I did contribute to PoserWorld's request for help, as they have always put out great items that I figure add up to more than the cost of my subscription, so I returned the favor.

Intel Core I7 3090K 4.5 GhZ (overclocked) 12-meg cache CPU, 32 Gig DDR3 memory, GeoForce GTX680 2gig 256 Bit PCI Express 3.0 graphic card, 3 Western Difgital 7200 rpm 1 Tb SATA Hard Drives

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 17 May 2007 at 9:48 PM

What did I say? Didn't I say his work was great? And the same with Poserworld, they do great items. It's just a matter of principle to me, I paid for my sub and that's it.

Marque, I think what FlyByNight was pointing out that there is a notice on the Props Club site and he did state in one of his emails that it was going to change to Thursday.  He sited the reason was because Monday was becoming way too busy, hence your notice of the time of the release getting later and later.

And I realize that "I paid for my sub and that's it" but we also need to remind ourselves that some sites are not run by an army of people but rather an army of one.  People have lives, they get sick, they take vacations, they have to do laundry that sort of real life thing etc.....but Traveler is by far one of THE most reliable people that I have ever known when it comes to this corner of the world that we all exist in.

Ramdass, definately contact Traveler through the Propsclub site or thru RDNA and he'll respond and get you straightened around.

Valerian70 ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 2:45 AM

I think the "I paid for my sub and that's it" comment was regarding Poserworld and NOT the Props Club Deb ;o)

Yes it was about the poserworld. Sorry to sound cranky, have had one of those weeks and quite ready for Friday myself. I think they should barter like kalon suggested. Maybe a makeover for the site in return for a lifetime sub would work for someone...unless it's equipment they need.

LadyElf ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 12:11 PM

I think that's an excellent idea, I'm sure someone would be more then happy to take them up on it :)

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 1:10 PM

The Props Club is still going strong.  When you join, you won't get a notice until Thursday night, usually, when he sends out the e-mail announcing the new download.

The good news is that there's an archive now, so you'll get access to a ton of previous weeks' stuff, too.

Marque ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 5:40 PM

Feel a little slammed here. If you advertise a business and you sell items I don't care if it's one person or one hundred, I don't think you should send out and email asking for extra money to upgrade. Maybe create some incredible item and sell it outside of the sub price, or ask for help with upgrading the site, but not extra money. This is why I NEVER buy a lifetime membership...and I don't know why sites offer them, sooner or later you will run out of money and still be expected to provide content. At any rate as much as I love poserworld I am disappointed that they did that.
Once again, not slamming products or people, and not saying anything bad about Trav.  Seems like you can't post an opinion here anymore unless it is entirely positive. I can see why so many people have left.

LadyElf ( ) posted Fri, 18 May 2007 at 5:54 PM

I don't think anyone is slamming anyone, Marque. I totally agree with you about the extra money thing, I think that was rather bad form.  I don't purchase lifetime anything anymore either, because instead of our/your/my lifetime, it's only the lifetime of whatever site for however long and sometimes they aren't around for very long and it ends up being a ripoff.

As far as posting opinions, I just figure that everyone has one and I can't expect everyone to agree with mine, as much as I would like them too. :) Individual experiences vary and sometimes there is a very good reason for things changing :)

Valerian70 ( ) posted Sat, 19 May 2007 at 4:38 AM

I'm just seeing a lot of confusion here because the Props Club and Poserworld are two completely seperate entities and somehow they have got lumped together.

For what it's worth I'm in agreement on the asking people for more money is very, very bad form.  I know "shit happens" but that isn;t your customers responsibility.  However, that relates to Poerworld.

As for Props Club, I know nothing new had been released by the time I went to bed last night but I also know Eric is busy, busy, busy and if he misses one release he'll d his best to get 2 up the following week so nobody feels like they've been "done".  I would say if you haven't heard from him yet to sitemail him over at RDNA as your email provider obviously has a problem with his emails and is refusing to let you get them.

I'm sorry you felt slammed Marque (hope you see this), because I agree with you absolutely.

The problem that has always plagued the Poser Community, IMHO, is a failure to draw the line between "friendship" and "business".  Once I have to give you those 16 Visa digits the bar is raised.

As far as the Props Club goes, I understood at the time I paid how Traveler operates, that there might be a delay, but that I would eventually get what I paid for. Knowing that, I paid, and so my expectations are not in anyway affected by a delay in the product. I'm a happy camper.

As far as PoserWorld goes, I knew it was frustratingly disorganized when I paid for my subscription. I weighed that against the content available and the content won. I paid for an anual subscription. I don't know the PoserWorld team, but my observation has been that Steve is an extremely helpful individual, and that too was factored into my decision to subscribe. But for PoserWorld  to ask for more money in this way, I agree is bad form. Part of my problem with the request is that it crosses that line between friendship and commerce. There is an element in this pitch that attempts to turn the screws of guilt because of the size of the team, years of dedication etcetera. (I confess that being refered to as a "beloved PoserWorld subscriber" immediately raised my hackles). They admit that there's been less content posted this year. None of this strikes me as good business.

Because, bottom line, IMHO, once you require money for goods or services you shouldn't attempt to exploit the community benefactor angle.

So, before the supporters rally to the defense, let me stress once more this is not a personal attack against any of the PoserWorld team, it's the response of a consumer regarding the business practices of a paid merchant.

Hello all,  (And thanks to my PC Peeps who have sung the PC's Praises!)

People who signed up this week just got sent their intro email, I appologize for the delay, but this has been a hectic week, compounded by some personal issues that have side tracked me most of the week.

There will be a download available tonight, finishing it up shortly.

As to the rest of the thread....

Props Club has nothing to do with Poser World,
Morph World is indeed closed, as I have not been able to update it for 3+ years.
I have never stiffed anyone on a single weeks download.... ever. I may not always be on time, but I make up for it in the end. At less then 50 cents a week, I dare anyone to beat that :) Considering most weeks, you get more then one prop/figure.

-Trav

Marque ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2007 at 12:13 AM

No one said props club has anything at all to do with poser world. If you read my posts you will see that I have no problem with your items, or with poser world items. I don't see anywhere in this thread that the two are the same, just folks saying they aren't .  No one that I know of has said you stiffed anyone so I don't know why you even bring that up.

That was me. I'm sorry. there was a thing once I think maybe called something like Prop's Guild and the guy in it was one of the guys who is also involved in poserworld. I got mixed up thinking that it was propclub, and so this whole misunderstanding is my fault. It was late at night. Ishould have checked my facts first. Sorry everyone. My mistake. Love esther PS as an aside. I think there's nothing wrong with asking for money or anything else if you need it. No one has to give it to you, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Traveler,

My question was not meant to suggest that you would "stiff" me or anyone else for that matter.  My apologies if you took it to mean this.  I was merely asking the community if your site was still open.  Some of us do not keep up with the happenings of the poser community on a regular basis so I was not aware of what was happening to your old site, props club, or your modus operandi.

Smaller sites such as yours may be subject to downtime, technical snaffus, or other personal issues as you mentioned that may cause such sites to be offline making contact with the content provider difficult / impossible for a time.  THAT was the real reason I asked the question the way I did which I believe ANY customer in this situation has the right to do. I wanted to find out what was happening and THATS ALL !  I never intended this thread to turn into a flame thread or otherwise and I'm sure ALL of us appreciate your work since we will all continue to buy your products.

Ramdass
