Subject: Just An Idea

thefixer ( ) posted Fri, 25 May 2007 at 8:07 AM · edited Fri, 24 January 2025 at 4:17 AM

Not sure it belongs here but it does involve Poser so here goes!!

If you're like me, you have X amount of funds to spend on new content every Month so you go and buy something off your wish list lets say!!

Now if you're still like me, the minute you do that, a merchant releases something that you didn't know was coming and you want/need it right now!!!

So to merchants and Rendo admin, how about a "coming soon" section so we have an idea of what merchants are working on, this gives us a more informed choice of when to spend!!

Aha!!  I hear you wags saying, We have the "Product Showcase" forum!!   Well yes we do but most of the time the merchants show us stuff that has already hit the store, there are exceptions of course, like Stonemason who regularly shows us what he's working on and many thanx Stonemason and others that do!! They are very few though, so how about it peeps!

Whadya think????

*Whadya think????
*Way ahead of you here :)

Much of the dark anvil and my own stuff is promoted a few days ahead of the actual release.
I try to use the term  "Sneaky Peek" in the title where possible - so watch for that.

Personally I'd like to see more W.I.P's as well, so you can see how things develop and the feedback can help as well.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

I think that's a great idea. If it get's implemented I hope they give a realistic expectation of when it's going to hit the stores too!

Sounds like a good idea to me (as a buyer!)
Hmm. Why don't you post this in the suggestions forum, Gwyn. I am sure the store staff will be interested :-)

I like the idea.  Not just as a consumer but as a creator ...  if I see that
somebody else is just about ready to release a 1950 TV set,
I can stop planning or working on my 1950 TV set!

So, in the end your asking the merchants to do what they are already not doing. What makes you think they will inform rendo of what they are working on when they could just as easily post a wip in the product showcase forum.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

If you can't eat it or play with it,

just pee on it and walk away. :-)

The reason the Product Showcase forum display what most people have posted, primarily we post the items when we submit them to renderosity to approve (which can take a week or more at times). Posting a concept or "what were working" on isnt always a good idea, primarily because alot of developers are secretive about what their working on until their finished, this is for various reasons. In my case its because if the idea doesn't meet up to a minimal standard of what I planned , it often times gets scrapped. Then you can end up flooded with emails saying "hey when is your gizmoagadget coming out"

I'll second mertext.
The submitions process has become so hit and miss that posting 'comeing soon' probably isn't.
A single letter in a sentence out of place can get a complete product rejected.
Or the new and constantly changing rules
Or the mood of the tester that day

I use to put in the galleries what I am working on, in the Poser gallery and not  in the Product Showcase because I do pictures and not promos!!!
Not all that appears in the images necessarly will be a new product and coming soon, many things I never released. Anyway if something new that you have never seen appears in my images it means that I am working on something.

Stupidity also evolves!
