Subject: Poser Figure Creating: What do the merchants use?

Fumanshoo ( ) posted Sat, 26 May 2007 at 6:30 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 1:48 PM

I am looking to make "unusual" humanoid faces and heads for various Poser figures. For example, I want some to have no ears, no eyes, no mouths or noses. (Just imaging a superhero morphed M3 figure who's head consists of only a nose and a mouth with razorsharp teeth) I want to accomplish this in the pre-render stage and not have to postwork this effect.

This cannot be done by simply making those body parts "invisible" from within Poser, nor can I accomplish this with many of the various third-party "Face" modification programs (trust me...I have tried). Is the Poser Pro Pack still being used by merchants or is there some other program being utilized to make custom M3/V3-4 figures?

There is recently released a "creature morph pak" for V4,

there are older ones for M3-V3

Modeling software.

There are free ones like Wings3D, anim8tor and blender. There are pay for ones that range from under $100 to about $7000. Milkshape, hexagon, silo, Z-Brush, lightwave, max3d and Maya. just to name a few.

You can also use poser magnets. If you have P7 you can use the morph brush to help with the magnets.

Propack is 4 versions ago so I don't know how many still use it, as many users  have updated for compatibility reasons. I don't think they even sell Propack any more, so you would have to find a legal copy somewhere.

Not quite what I was looking to do. Here is what I'm talking about (in terms of the eyes: (obviously this is postworked to show my example)

Thank you. I'll get some of these a try.

Yup, magnets won't get you there.   Leveling out eyes and
noses will require rebuilding the head, but it's a fairly easy
type of rebuilding.  (Easier than building a new and realistic
nose, for instance.)

Among the free modelers, Wings3D is probably the easiest
to start with; you may also find an older edition of Amapi (5 or 6)
for free.  I know for sure that the job can be done in Amapi,
because I've done something similar.  Basically it means
deleting the whole eye-socket structure, then building a grid and
"bridging" the grid into the rest of the face.

You could do something like this

It si for an upcoming freebee from my eZine.
The hero mask can be conformed to the head then once you mouth is there and such, you can hide the head.

(I knwo that that is rendered in an unregistered software but I cannot register it any more, it is 3d Exploration, the forrunner of deep explorer...sucks snot to be able to upgrade from this, it is shareware though and fully functional says to pay $30 for the registration, btu the parent site is MIA)
