Subject: Do I have to reinstall all my purchases after system crash?

Hello

I had a system crash and to reinstall.  However I had a backup of the original Poser folder with all the daz3d and renderosity stuff I purchased.  Now do I have to reinstall each and every one of them or can I just reimport them into the new Poser 7 folder and add them as runtimes...is there an easier way to do this..for example when you load after effects it searches and finds the plugins..please advise and thank you.

You can add the Poser folder as an external runtime in Poser 7.
Probably the best idea is copying the complete backup folder to your working disk/folder, then point Poser 7 external runtimes to your working set.
There is no need to reinstall the content.

Caveat: some Python utillies do require a reinstall, e.g. PoserPhysics.

If you have the full runtime folder backed up , you can just copy it back to the poser runtime from the new install.

Just copy the runtime folder of your backup into the folder that contains the new runtime folder. You will get a message that says it already exists, continue and the backup files will replace the new files if they are of the same name .

I had 2 HD burn outs last year and luckily I had back-ups.
I did it in a similar way to markschum,

I did a clean install of Poser, deleted the Runtime and replaced it with my back-up runtime, worked no problem, no loss od anything and back running in a coupla hours instaed of days or weks trying to reinstall stuff manually!

Injustice will be avenged.

I did the same just 2 weeks ago! My CPU get a nervous breakdown, and after my reinstal of Poser, i replaced the original Runtime by my backup (thanks to thefixer! :)
