Subject: Saving selfmade textures for a handbag as pz2 file

Maria777 ( ) posted Mon, 28 May 2007 at 9:24 AM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 12:51 PM

I made a nice set of textures for a handbag. I wanted to save them in the library/pose so that they can be applied  on the handbag. But there is no "+" .
Maby because the handbag is not named as a "figure 1".
I can save the textures in the materials library then it is named *.mc6 (and png) but I want to have a pz2 file.

Just open your .mc6 file in a text editor, then change "mtlCollection" into "figure", and save it in your pose folder with the .pz2 extension. Copy your png in that same folder too. That's all!  ;)

That was simple, only I can not apply  it to the bag because there is only a "-" there.

Have you saved the new .pz2 and png into Pose folder?

Yes, You can see the bag but there is no v of vv to apply it. And this way the bag is in the poser tab (picture):>

Ok, i got it. Try this:

Open your .mc6 file with the text editor (beware to backup it just in case), change "mtlCollection" into "figure" just as above, and save, no "save as", just "save". Then, change the .mc6 extension of your new file into .pz2. Now you past it into your pose folder with the png, now it will work.

If you are saving it to the materials library you have to go to the material room to apply the texture.

You can make MAT POSE files that can be applied in the Pose Library in the pose room, but you need MAT POSE EDIT to do that. It's free at this link:

vincebagna: it does not work again.. but thanks anyway

Acadia: I want it to apply in the pose library (because if it is nice enough I want to sell it that way), but the program you linked is a Windows program and I m working on a mac. Is there also somewhere a mac program that works the same?

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 28 May 2007 at 11:48 AM · edited Mon, 28 May 2007 at 11:50 AM

Gosh, I don't know.  There must be because lots of people who have Mac computers create products.  Unfortunately I don't know where such a program is though. Someone else will have to answer that for you.

EDIT:

Go back to the site and click on "FAQ". There is information there about Mac version.

Its strange because I maked a new texture for the pants of "the Girl" and put it in de pose directory and that worked out fine.  i can apply it to the base model pants.

In the faq : "Is there a Macintosh version of MAT Pose Edit?
Unfortunately no. But if you have Pro Pack or P5 you can use a Python script for making MAT files."

Well I have P7 and don't know what a Pro Pack is?

vincebagna ( ) posted Mon, 28 May 2007 at 12:55 PM

Sorry if that not helped. But it's strange, cause i always did that if i wanted to have MAT POSE files, acording to this thread.
But i guess it could be because you are on Mac system, and i'm working on Windows.

Is the item  a prop?  I know in some cases you can't apply the texture in the Pose room and have to use the material room.  Although that isn't the case with all props because I have some packages that have props that have MAT POSE files for textures.

By the way, i don't even know what is better: to have MAT POSE files, or to go by the material room??
What is the difference between both?

i think that working on a mac (intelpro) isn't the perfect way for 3d imaging because there are very realistic sets of skins for V3 where the python script doesnt work (I just found out).

But it is a prop Acadia, thats right.

The main reason that I wanted it  to be a pose mat file is ..that I work since november 06 with poser(7) and bought soooo much (I'am almost addicted) 3Dstuff, everything all kinds of models and clothes. And today I discoverd that while you are in the material room there is a Material Directory on the right side,..(huh)  I never saw it before (after 6 months).
While the money is increasing I found out how much fun it is to work with textures.
So when my texture set of bags is nice enough to sell I would like it that people who buy them will apply them easy, without going in that difficult looking materialroom.

 I found the sollution!

There are 2 sollutions in fact.

First use the pictures of vincebagna changing the mc6 file, I changed this time figure 1 in prop Handbag_1 (That is also the name in de pose tab).

and

when when the prop is not alone in the scene but I put a figure 1 first in the scene, you can change the texture and apply  the new pz2 file.

(It helped to look at the files of a free V4 hat wich had several textures I couldnt apply either).

Thanks
