Subject: Translation Assistance Required - Chinese

Hi Guys and Gals

I know this is totally off-topic where photography is concerned but I don't know where else to go for honest advice.

My daughter is wanting to get a tattoo and she wants the Chinese symbol for strength - can anyone tell/show me what this is as extensive research on the net always shows variations and I don't know which one is accurate.

She has told me of someone who had a tattoo around his ankle, like a bracelet and, although I can't remember now what it was supposed to say in Chinese, something like "love, honour, cherish" but when he got several laughs at him, he finally found out that it in fact was a list of ingredients from the back of a cereal packet or something similar!!

A tattoo is for life and I don't want my daughter getting something done by a tattoo artist that is not what she actually wants so, if any of you know Chinese and can show me the correct symbol, I would be extremely grateful.

Many thanks.

力量 - This is what I got from Alta Vista-Babel Fish translation??

So you can see my dilema - everything is so different which is why I thought I could ask someone here, perhaps who is of Chinese origin or at least fluent in the language to offer their assistance.

Thanks anyway - I'll see what else pops up!!

Here's some links. The leftmost character seems to be prominent in all and it seems you can use it alone or in combination. The last link also has a "Health, strength and courage" tatoo example

Thanks for that, I think that's a definite then - use the first symbol that I posted - as you say, it seems to be the prominent one and can be used alone.

Thanks for all your help - at least I know she won't end up with a list of ingredients for making bread on her hip now!!!

Hugs
