Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
I use Poser on OSX, but I don't use the converter. I have actually not needed to convert any items, even where it says it will be necessary. Have you tried using the files as they are (unconverted)? If you have classic on your system -- which you might if you don't have an Intel Mac -- you should be able to run the converter in classic mode. Classic doesn't run on the Intel Macs, unfortunately, but the upside is that I don't think conversion will be required then. It may be necessary with some items, but I've not encountered any yet.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye texture.
You may not need it. See this thread for details:-

Also this free utility may be useful:-

It kind of depends on which version of Poser the content was created on. Some people still use Poser4 as content creators i think. Only real problems I've had is thumbs not displaying properly. That is, there is a poser file (fig, pose, prop...) and the rsr file, but no png file. There is a free app that extracts the thumb image file from the rsr, called XShruggy.
Don't use it. Just get Kavenman's ditto for installing. If the stuff isn't wrapped up in a runtime (only the occasional file) then youcan just put it in the folders by hand. They nearly always have a readme that tells you where the bits go. The mac and PC runtime files both work on mac, even the ones that say PC only, unless they are a utility, ie little program or something. But all the poser content works fine. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!

Whether i buy stuff or download freebies, i always use MacPoser Browser Pro to install everything. I also use PoserMacConv (bought from the same vendor here at Renderosity) to make PC-files work as Mac-files however... There have been problems at times with some (mainly freebie) PC-files that the app could not fix for some reason and that's when i use Poser Maconverter 1.1.8 from Soft Rabbit. If you have Classic mode installed, you can run this app with great ease to convert files in a split second ! Phil, i did not know about your script until now, it looks very good and i will try it, but i have to say that i could not live without the MacPoser Browser Pro app no more because this little program makes installing files so much fun and it also does it with the greatest ease that i will never again work without it. Hello
I just got Poser 7 running on mac OS X. The issue is that the Poser Mac Converter from MartinC (Sof Rabbit) appear to only work on OS 9. Does any of you uses Poser on OS X and are experiencing the same issue?
Anyhow, I truly appreciate it if someone could give me some tip.
Regards
Murka
