Any Firefox users who have upgraded to the latest  version 2.0.0.4 have you been experiencing any strange behavior with this new version? Mostly I get problems with some sites using java that I didn't have before the upgrade.

Thanks

I haven't had any problems yet.  You know how upgrades are, with every new one, there are new bugs.  I'll test it out and see what happens.

I haven't had any problems. Everything seems to be fine from my end. What sites are you getting the error on?

archdruid ( ) posted Sun, 03 June 2007 at 3:36 PM

The only thing I've had happen, was while checking my e-mail... it locked up, then defaulted into the error reporting mode..... Firefox closed, but when I went to reopen, it offered the option to resume... no problems, then.... my guess, though, might be more of MS's resistance to anything to do with Sun or Java..... Currently, Java won't go to 6 because IE, which only "exists" on my system, will not support it...... interesting... if this is what it "looks like", then MS is in for another series of suits. Lou.

Ah...never mind I feel like an idiot it appears that the Java console for ver.6 is not compatible with the newest version of firefox until java makes an update. Not really errors but more like sometimes is seems I have to click more than once to get the page to come up. Happens a lot at daz.

I had upgraded to the version 2. something a couple months back but hated it because most of my extensions that I like weren't compatible with that version. I went to the Mozilla-Firefox forums and begged for a link to the 1.504 or whatever it was at the time.  I now have 1.5.0.12 and that's just fine with me. All of my extensions work and I don't have any website issues.

If you want to get your old version back, see the above link.

You should get the IETab addon, which will let you spawn an instance of IE right in a firefox Tab. You can even switch between IE and mozilla on the fly by rt clicking on a tab and choosing IE.

I keep it around as a fallback for the few sites that dont support mozilla or insist on IE.

Extensions are slowing being updated, but Flash tends to crash Firefox lately.  Used to be QuickTime but that was fixed a little while back.  I still love Firefox, but its quirks are becoming more problematic.  Time for a thorough shake down methinks - and better collaboration with extension developers (Apple, Macromedia, Sun, et al).

I was running version 2x for a while and Rosity plus alot of other sites I go to was really having problems loading. After reading this thread, I went back to version 1.5.9.12 and now everything is loading much faster and so far, I'm not having any problems with any site loading.

I was reading one of my tech publications about how many people are beginning to complain about how the newer versions of firefox are not as lean and compact as they used to be. I hope firefox is not going the way of IE.

I've used Firerox since version one. This one is the first version that has crashed on me. When that happened I opened the Opera browser for that page... Holy crud! I just discovered how sweet the Opera browser is.

I think I'm gonna switch.

My only problem with Firefox is that I can't copy and paste on this site.
Do I need to change my settings?

To copy and paste on this site, if you're not doing this already, is use the keyboard and use Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. Trying to highlight the text or anything else then using your mouse doesn't work at least for me anyway.

Next year they'll roll out the new version of this site and it'll be all be in Terminal using command lines. jumps in a Delorean and heads back to the 1970's

Copy/paste used to work here, but when they did the last HTML "fix" or something for the reply box, they broke it.

I asked about it and here is the thread with the reply given.

I've never been able to get a lot of javascript, quicktime, or other such things to work in Firefox.  I just do without them as much as possible. sigh

I had the same copy and paste problem until I started researching the older message about it the last time it happened.

Found this, tried it and now copy and past works for me. Go into Firefox options, click Content, then Advanced for Jave and uncheck "Disable or replace context menus". Close and restart Firefox.

Acadia: You should remember this on as you were having that same problem then.

When I do that it totally disables my ability to right click and copy/paste in the box itself. I depend on right clicking and pasting because I am terrible at remembering macros. I prefer drop down menus.

I've manage to figure out work arounds for this dumb problem that still allows me to use right click and copy and right click and paste.

Personally I can't see why the programmers have such a stupid setup such as this window that disallows so many features such as spell checking, proper copy/pasting without buggy errors etc.

They should have opted for a reply box that permitted them to edit their own code instead of having to rely on the box creator to do it for them.
