Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 18 10:25 pm)
What version of windows or are you on a mac?
How much RAM?
Do you have an adequate amount of freespace on your system? you need to have freespace not only on the drive where poser is installed, but also on your system drive.
Have you changed your swap file settings lately? if you have your swap drive on your system drive, you can sometimes destroy your freespace in that way.
Have you tried updating your graphic card's drivers? I had a problem similar to this, after I reinstalled some software (that had nothing to do with Poser).
Poser would open, but if I tried to load anything it would crash to the desktop.
After I updated my graphic card's drivers the problem went away. ^_^
Turn off Smooth Polygons and see if it still crashes. If so, one of the items in your scene has a problem with Smooth Polygons, and you can go through and disable it by prop/figure until you find the culprit. Even the built-in primitive cylinder causes this to happen for me sometimes. I think Smooth Polygons is just really f*cked up in the current patch (Poser 7 SR1), it doesn't smooth a lot of things properly e.g. dynamic cloth.
Well, I saved the two figures in the figure library as parented figures. Then I loaded them, rebuilt
the scene around them and it renders fine. The original won't, however, so I must assume the
original PZ3 was corrupted somehow. :) I love Poser, but sometimes it makes me wanna
chew iron and spit nails. :) Thanks for the help, People!

Hi all.
I'm hitting a problem I've encountered many times before, but never in this manner.
I rendered an image, no problem. As usual with a first render, you find minor pose
details or other minor things that need to be adjusted, then you render again. Problem is,
the first render worked fine, but now everytime I try to render, Poser crashes to Windows.
I've tried everything. Restarting Poser after rebooting the system, deleting objects leaving
only the two figures. Heck, it crashed even with just the two figures from the scene!
Any ideas why? Do I need to restart from scratch? I hope not though. The pose took me
hours to get right. Any help appreciated. :)

PS: I do have SR1 installed. :)
