Subject: Making a ring to release as a freebie, left/right hand fit is it necessary?

vincebagna ( ) posted Fri, 08 June 2007 at 4:32 AM · edited Thu, 12 December 2024 at 1:55 PM

Hi!

I've made a ring for V4. And i was wandering if it's possible to make a pose file to fit it on left hand or and right hand.
Actually, it loads on the left hand, but some people will surely want to put it on the right hand. If it's possible, i could make a pose to put it on the right, but how could i do that?

Gush!

I just found my answer:
no need of a pose, just another ring prop parented to the right finger!!!!

silly silly, isn't it?  ;P

I was just going to suggest that, but you beat me to it. ;) If you make the prop reference an external geometry, the individual prop files will be very small.

How do you do that?

Like this. :) -- edited -- Ok, that needs a little better detail, now I think about it. - Import your mesh into Poser. - Position it in the correct place on a figure in zero pose - Parent to the appropriate body part - Save as a smart prop - Position on the opposite hand, parent and save as before - Now you follow BeyondVR's tutorial twice; but only do the saving geometry step once, since those lines will be the same in both props. - You should end up with two PP2 files and one OBJ, plus thumbnails of course.

Thanks bob! I'll take a look on that!

I don't know if i could post a picture of my freebie as soon as it will be ready? Is it allowed?

I don't see why not - in the freestuff forum it's positively encouraged! By the way - I edited some detail into my post, in case you may have missed it...

Reminds me I was going to do the same with a related ring prop...  mental note, and thanks for the technique Bob.

I don't have V4, but V3 indists that I get that ring for her so that she can be elegant too!

Thanks so much :)
