FrankT ( ) posted Tue, 12 June 2007 at 6:50 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 7:21 AM

anyone ever come across one of these ? I'm after a dress that a Flamenco dancer might wear (or anything along those lines) so I thought I'd ask the guru's here

stallion is right.  It is called "Spanish Rose".

There are also some free textures available for it in the Members Only forum at DAZ if you are a Plat Club member.

Now that DAZ is back up....

It is "Spanish Rose Flamenco" http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=3511

It is $29.95 regular price or $1.99 for Plat Club members.

I have that!!!! And I absolutely love it!  I bought it when it was first released.

I believe there are castanets in the member only forum as a bonus to the item. Also, TrekkieGrrrl has some finger cymbols on her site.

i have that, and i found it useless.  looking up actual flamenco dancing poses, i couldn't get it to fit any of the ones i tried.  i hope you'll have better luck, but i found it's posing to be exceedingly limited, especially for dress a woman is supposed to dance in.  the textures for it are pretty, but i haven't found a use for it yet.

I have been meaning to try the dress in the material room and clothify the hip area.  It's possible with the Morphing Fantasy Dress and also "The Dress".  So I don't see why it won't work with this one.

I'm sure I'll figure something out - maybe turn the whole thing dynamic and have done with it :) (assuming I can ever figure out how to do that)

i've thought about that.  i'm not sure the ruffles and frills will behave.  at the time i gave up on the image (there were other issues), and i've never had a pressing need for it after that first experience, so i haven't tried.  that said, i was thinking more on an advice level.  that is, i'd never advise someone to buy something then clothify it to get it function properly.  and i don't mean to say that any of your experiences are invalid, just that mine was far from positive, and i was very disappointed.

I didn't seem to have a problem with the dress and poses.

I'm going to try it in the cloth room later though, I'm curious as to whether it will work in there or not. But even as a conforming item I highly recommend it.

just out of curiousity, did you use real dance poses?  because after my experience with it, i noticed every time i saw it used, it was more like a pinup or glamour shot than an actual moving pose.

There's a great freebie here...

http://www.poserfashion.net/vic3_dress5.htm

...it's a dynamic pp2 complete with texture courtesy of Serge Marck, and here's a six year old(??!!) render I used it in.

That is a great dress! I had forgotten about it. It was the first really interesting dynamic clothes item I ever saw and experimented with. And PoserFashion was the place to go if you wanted to understand the Cloth room.

I never tried the dress with dance poses, but I would be very surprised if it didn't work.

I tried the Flamenco skirt in the cloth room and it works very well!! Here is an image.

You can find out how to do it in this thread:

Just a little question, have you applied the morphs INJ pose for the DAZ flamenco dress?  It took me some time to relized you had to do that first...:)

And another note from a flamenco dancer...making real flamanco pose for V3 is a nightmare  -since many are very extreme in bending, twisting...

But a little tip for you is to remember to keep space between arms and body (kind of first rule I learned when I started to dance) and also try to keep things opposite - an example:
If the body twist right, then arms or head are going left.
