I agree.  I dint see any reference to poser 7 and its problems with Vue 6.  I hope its fixed in this update. :)

I'm at work right now so can't get it until later [10 p.m. UK time].
I heard an update was coming from the e-on tech guys last week and they did say that the fix would include something that had come from e-frontier so I would presume it 's a reference to the Poser 7 SDK issue!

Its working now.
After update I loaded two daz people that had been saved as vob and resources fell to 34%.
I have background draw unchecked and camera preview to auto update off. :(  Also decimate mesh is unchecked.

Now get this, just for kicks with the two people loaded and resourse at 34% I decide to load faverals auroe which is a hog by itself.   It loaded and my resources jumped from 34% to 52% with 3 models.    Yikes it seems now the more we load the more our reosurces are going to go up instead of down.  Go figure and explain if anyone can.......lol

After quick preview render I dropped to 36%.  Very wild happenings.    Now I go and purge memory and get back to 72%.

Very Interesting.    At least with this update we may be able to load a few models that were bringing my vue to its knees. :)   Curious what others find. :)

I can now do things that were impossible before this update.  It seems now we on the right track.
Now if they will get the collections to load from external HD faster than what they do I will be making some pics instead of posting to tech all the time. :)

The downloading problem might've been that they hadn't finished uploading it to their website.

Usually, didn't they send mail when an update is released? Because i didn't receive any.

Ok. After few tests, it seems this update does not fix the problems i have with some hair import from P6. Gush...

But for the memory ressources, i get through the same as iloco. A .pz3 scene with two people loaded with 52%. After a purge, 72%. And after the first preview render, 52% again. Just to note that before this update my memory ressources were about 32%. Weird...

What hair are you importing.  I may have it and curious how it imports with poser 7 installed.  I took poser 6 off my computer. :)

I notices a change in the orthogonal view, some of the instances are now very crude looking, so I guess they must have reduced the geometry.  My views are loading quicker, but I notice there is a slight change in contrast and color when I use Radiosity, darker, sharper, less color.

I opened the Vocano scene 2 billion poly and doubled the scene twice to 7 bilion poly and it didn't crash.  Will have to do some more testing with Sub-surface scattering, and volumetric lighting to see if it still crashes.

They mention the updates in their monthly newsletters.  By then the update is no longer classified as a Beta.

Well, here are the hair that don't want to come into Vue:

  • Hiro hair
  • Annika hair
  • Kurt hair
  • Madelyne hair
  • Mitsu hair
  • WILD hair
  • Flexy hair

When i save them in .pz3 and load, there is nothing. I have to export in .obj, then re-import, and put them back on the head and save as .pz3, and it loads fine then... Strange isn't it? I put a ticket to eon and they talked about this update that could fix this problem. They told also that it could depend of how the hair has been made.

I would be curious if someone could try with these hair to see if the same problem occurs.

OK. Few more tests again:

DAZ Millenium cat and DAZ Millenium horse don't want to load into Vue too.

Could someone who own these could test?

I'll bring another ticket to eon now.

If you can post the link to tech support so we can add to it when we do the test and find the same as you would be great.   I have found the more who report a problem the better the chance of getting fixed. :)

Are you sure that Vue is configured for the correct version of Poser that the pz3 files were created with?  If you have a pz3 and it was made using Poser 6, but Vue is configured for Poser 7 (or used Poser 7, vue configured for Poser 6), problems will happen.

I use both Poser 6 (90% of the time) and Poser 7.  It's a pain, but you need to keep track of what version Poser you used and make sure Vue is setup correctly.

I use the Mil cat and horse in a lot of pictures - never had a problem...

I don't have P7 and Vue is setup to work with P6. And i didn't have problem with Mil cat and horse... before this update!

I removed it for now, waiting to see what e-on guys will tell me.

Vince: Flexy and Annika hair ok,  Millenium cat and horse also ok [Vue6Inf]

Can I just ask you to try something, some peeps don't believe this works but when I have a poser item that doesn't come in, when I do this it does next time I try so just try it even if you think you don't have any compressed files.

Run the Uncompress script in poser and tick both boxes too, then save the items above and see if it imports ok then!
Sometimes Vue doesn't "do" obz, some peeps will say "bollocks" but I know for a fact this works for me about 90% of the time.

OK, so Is the Vue6I update better, worse or the same.

Thought I would ask before installing.

IMO - I think it's better :)

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2007 at 9:38 PM

I'd say better.  Just look at the fix list.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2007 at 10:40 PM

OK. Thanks. I didn't want any surprises.

Fixed list does not mean it's stable. LOL.

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Wed, 13 June 2007 at 11:51 PM · edited Thu, 14 June 2007 at 12:00 AM

It can never be stable as long as there are 3rd-party Poser objects to import.

thefixer ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2007 at 1:51 AM

Only used it once so far but the memory issue seemed better, not perfect but better.
My last image had some quite high Poser stuff in there and I didn't have to purge as much!

thefixer ( ) posted Thu, 14 June 2007 at 2:42 AM

Use the uncompress script inside Poser but make sure the 2 boxes are ticked as well!
Do it for all your runtimes!

Well, i did like you said, but nothing has changed, no way to import Flexy nor Hiro hair nor Mil Cat. I think there is nothing else to do except some voodoo stuff...  :(

edit:

i started a new trhead to see if it's just me or all Vue6Pro or Esprit copies.

I have found 4 problems since starting this thread.
Materials, Color maps, Slow browser loading from external HD and materials changing colors when using the pose feature in vue.
No use getting into details since all have been reported to tech.  Hopeful next update will have most them fixed. :)

Still work to be done. :)
