Subject: Topic for "June" Challenge - Peace.

waheednasir ( ) posted Thu, 07 June 2007 at 12:52 AM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 3:39 AM

greetings...hope all is well...:).

as ive to give a topic for June challenge, ive come up with the one, that gives u a wide horizon to think about and a big area to express yourself. u can have a portrait, landscape, still life, etc etc and be it a painting, poem, photograph or whatever u are comfortable with. for me this topic covers a lot...:).

Topic : Peace.

i hope everyone agrees and likes it...:).

i leave the dates for the start and finish, for Viv, to put according to the challenge procedure.

i thank again everyone for all the appreciation and for your precious votes on my painting in the last challenge.

i wish all the best to everyone with this new challenge.

good day...:).

waheednasir.

regards,
waheednasir.

Thanks, waheednasir, for giving us the new challenge so promptly!  This is a wonderful topic, it has so much potential, everyone can come up with something.

The Challenge begins immediately and will close to entries on June 27, 2007 at 11:59 PM Renderosity time.  Voting will begin then and last until June 30, 2007 at 11:59 PM Renderosity time.  I will total and announce the results on July 1, 2007.

You may enter an existing work if you like, but we would prefer to see a new work created for this challenge... it IS a challenge after all, lol!  You may enter more than one work, but remember that in the voting, each entry will be judged separately.

OK, now go... and CREATE!!!

Excellent theme! Tough to find a really good image for it though. I always find still waters very peaceful. EDIT: Created just for this challenge, this photomanipulation is best viewed at full size.

hello there everyone...here is mine. this is a fresh, recent piece that ive painted and now after submitting it here in this challenge, ill be posting it my gallery as well...:).

this is a digitally painted work, "Plains of Paradise - Far from concrete jungle". a break from those other landscapes/city scenes, that i was busy with for some time lately and because i wanted to paint something traditional, in an impressionistic manner, i painted this landscape...:).

further more, i went for a peaceful, calm feeling and the freshness and purtiy of nature. nature's wonderful gift for all of us.

i did consult refs some days ago (only for the construction, that i even changed for my requirements), before starting this. what u are seeing here is all scratch, self-visualized, my own composition.

painted using tablet, in artrage.

hope this manages to grab some votes...:).

all the best to everyone...good day.

Magic Dawn
by
BobbiJo McBroom

The sun came out to play today
It chased the rain and clouds away
Oh! Mom wake up Oh! Please don't pout
The sun's almost up! Please! Let's go out

Come on! Please Mama, let's go see
What the faeries left for me
We'll check the leaves and see if they grew
Maybe they've painted you roses for you

The birds are singing Please! Mom get up!
We can put our breakfast in a cup
We'll take it down and eat outside
The breeze will come from far and wide

It will blow our bubbles all about
Oh! Please get up and let's go out
It's been raining for Oh! So long
Hurry please Mom! Before the sun is gone

I've got your shoes Mom, Please I can't wait
Mom please get up it's getting late
We can play, "I spy with my little eye"
"I see magical colours" say "it's a magic sunrise"

She puts her feet down on the floor
Puts on her slippers heads out the door
The sun's not up it's still a spark!
My goodness baby it's still dark!

They cuddle so close in the front porch chair
Those first enchanted rays creep through the air
Baby nestles back to whisper with a sigh
"Hey Mom I spy with my little eye, magical colours up so high"

Says Mama, "Little One it's a magic sunrise"
Little one has taken her by surprise
She's discovered new magic, become more wise
Watching the dawning of wonder in her daughter's eyes.

mamabobbijo ( ) posted Fri, 22 June 2007 at 12:33 PM

WOW! Such wonderful entries! Kort's lovely Zen Garden, waheednasir's dreamy landscape, iclone's humorous faerie scene, and the poignant mass scene, and valerie's lovely box of peace. So many ideas of what peace is and so many mediums for showing it! Peace may indeed be the sustenance of life, but surely variety is the spice!

This image is from one of the most peaceful days I've had, out on the water, with great friends, enjoying the beauty that surrounded us. The water was completely smooth and peaceful, hardly a ripple, except the ones we made... When I look back at this photo and remember that day, I take a deep breath and I'm there again... please enjoy too...

What a great group of entries we have this month!  Thanks everyone for joining in to make this a fun challenge.  It's now time to close the entries and let the voting begin!    You get to choose your 3 favorite entries, giving each of them 3, 2 or 1 points.  Remember, you are choosing an entry, not an artist.  If someone has posted more than one entry, you need to indicate which is your choice.

Your vote should look something like this:

Tolstoi - "Worlds of Peace" - 3 points
Baker - "Peace of cake" - 2 points
Whirled - "Peas" - 1 point

Feel free to nominate Honorable Mentions or make comments.

Thanks **tresamie.**Lots of different media types and variety.
Do we vote just by posting to this thread like above?
I think the voteing process for the past monthly challenges was different.

tresamie ( ) posted Fri, 29 June 2007 at 1:39 AM

Just add your votes here in this thread, as we always do.  I know some of the other forums use a different system, but this way seems a little more interesting for such a diverse group of entries.

Such a difficult choice, truly.  I really was torn between a few choices.  I love your poem, mamabobbijo, and your photograph and poem are wonderful, Valerie, as are the awesome photograph of awjay and nongo's beautiful image, respectively.  So each receives an "Honourable Mention" from me.
