Subject: Downloading .rar Files

I love this site!  There is so much going on here it makes me dizzy.  I do have one concern though.  It seems that all of your download files are .rar and for some reason I can't download anything that is .rar.  Is there anyway we can get around this?  I would dearly appreciate it.  Could you provide other downloading options for us?  I don't exactly know how this works, but, I'm sure you know what I'm getting at.
Thanks so much for a great site!

If you mean that you can download them but not open them,
there is a small freeware program available called 7-zip at www.7-zip.org
that will allow you to access .rar files.

Winzip will open .rar files.

mccoyneil,
can you do me a favor and post a clickable link?  I looked online for 7-zip.org and the site gives you so many downloading options.  Since I'm not sure of the best one to download I think it would be better to not do a thing until I know what I'm doing.  Thanks!

karen1573,
I have winzip.  At least I think I do and it doesn't seem to help a bit.  What do I need to do to allow me to open the .rar files?

Thanks to both of you for your input!

If you right-click on the file in Windows Explorer and select "Open With..." and then on the menu that comes out, if Winzip isn't on there, select the "Choose program" link, and browse to Winzip. Put a check in "Always use this program to open these types of files."

Alternatively, run Winzip from the start menu and go to Options>Configuration. Go to the System tab and in the top left area click on the "Associations" button. Select .RAR files then click ok. (Or just select everything.)

Note - these instructions are for Winzip 11 - you may need to download the latest version if you're using an older one.

Thanks for the great tip, Karen!  I just finished downloading Winzip 11 and I'm looking forward to downloading any .rar files!  LOL!!
Since I'm not 100% computer literate I may have to ask you questions now and again.  Thanks for everything!

Rar files?  I haven't seen any yet.  Is this a new option?  As a merchant, I'd love to be able to submit products in rar form, especially when needing to break packs apart, as rar just makes it so much easier.

Thanks!

No, Marketplace is restricted to zip files.
Catwoman is talking about the freestuff area, where quite a few users supply their downloads as .rar files.
