If you talk to industry leaders in the motion picture business, my experience is that most people would probably laugh if you told them you were thinking of using Bryce as a tool of animation in a professional commercial that is to be distributed around the world.

Well... Its happened...

The ad is 30 seconds (standard commercial length) and is a PSA (public service announcement) that tackles the issue of Global Warming.

What do you guys think??

Gotta love Bryce trees.

Nicly done and nothing screamed out Bryce.

Its the same in the Music Industry, Everyone is Hot and Bothered on using "Pro Tools" and nobody takes "Fruity Loops" seriously.  Pro Tools is like 3D Studio Max and Fruity Loops is like Bryce.

Fruity Loops does as good of a job on making music as Pro Tools..   But because Timbaland or any other Currently hot producers dont use Fruity Loops... its dissmissed and taken seriously.

FoleyPro posted a link to a movie clip that had CG FX he made with Bryce.
I don't have the link anymore; and I don't think the clip is available at it anymore either.

Thats too bad, I would have liked to see that...

You guys are going only on eye recognition of Bryce trees?   is this what tells you it was Bryce?

Nice but dead wrong on the facts. Sorry, you can call me a denier and claim that i am in the pocket of Big Oil. An inconvenient truth or convenient lies (or rather a lot of might be's, could be's and so on)?

"And yet the earth moves" was once a dangerous thing to say.

For me, I noticed a bulge in the trees which only Bryce seems to have. Then the characteristics of the branches....

Of course it helps when someone says "Bryce is used in a .... "  ;-)

Okay...  Maybe they are Bryce trees....

"And yet the earth moves" was once a dangerous thing to say."
Weather Global Warming is actually happening --or-- the earth is completing a cycle and the ice age is coming ---or---- what ever ---or--- none of the above,,,,  We need to get out of the oil business as soon as possible...    lets work together....

soulhill ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2007 at 10:43 AM

It's bryce depth of field too - a little too much of it in my opinion, but for a good cause.

I actually have Fruity Loops somewhere...somewhere...of course, I have Cakewalk too, never got around to figuring out either one..;)

Dash101 ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2007 at 2:56 PM

I am actually happy to see Bryce used in something like this. Yeah its Bryce Depth of Field as well -  clearly.

But I love the DOF (of course if you look at my gallery that should come to no suprise!) ha ha ...

I think its the trees though that are a dead give away for anyone who knows the software. But still...

What's fruityloops? A cereal?

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2007 at 6:43 PM

I got Fruity Loops too, but haven't yet figured it out.

It's a music making software app. You do things like make sounds and control their rhythm. Make more and pretty soon you have a bunch of tracks all sounding (hopefully) cool. I know ppl who use it well, but I haven't yet....

tom271 ( ) posted Sat, 09 June 2007 at 8:15 PM

It is expensive software....   $340 plus...  for me..

Can it be used for sound editing or sound design? Or is it specific to music creation?

adh3d ( ) posted Tue, 12 June 2007 at 4:40 PM

I like to see Bryce is used for things like that.

And the answerto their question  is YES.

Interesting clip, but I not sure why they didn't just use a video camera to shoot the few seconds they used (in a real forest during overcast weather) - would have been easier. A shame they didn't showcase more of the amazing fantasy realms Bryce can create - such as what the forest could look like after global warming takes hold... Nice to see the message getting out about this important issue however. :-)

i think so, too.  But the point was it could be done with Bryce and u dont have to go out and shoot the real thing.  And sometimes, the us of another medium creates a fresh image on something that seem ordinary because it uses familiar images.  :)
