Subject: Was there a plant update in Vue6 I?

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 22 June 2007 at 10:00 AM · edited Thu, 13 February 2025 at 4:59 AM

I'm getting a missmatched file on a prehistoric plant in one of the installed ecosystems, so I can;t use it. I just installed the latest patch, but was there a plant updates I might have missed somewhere along the line?

No separate plant updates....all updates are included in 1.  My guess is a fix of 1 thing has affected another :(

sigh...

Also, is there a way to delete all the plants that show up that I don't own? I'm kinda tired of selecting a plant or tree to load, and getting a sales pitch to buy it.

I just want my content library to reflect what I own.. not try to entice me to purchase more.

One of 2 things:

  1. CLick the ghost icon in your collections
    2.  In Explorer search for files begining with ~~ & select all & then delete all

I chose #2.

Cool.. thanks!

I'm playing with it again after a number of month;s away, and have forgoten everything I learned about it.. LOL!! BTW, it automatically takes advantage of dual core, right? Or do I need to set that up?

According to specs Vue should recognize as many cores as one puter will handle.

That's what I thought.. holy crap were there a lot of those damned advert products in my vue content!

IMHO those should be an optional install.

And looks like those prehistoric trees needed to be purchased for that scene, which was a demo scene or ecosystem I think.

Demo stuff included with the program shouldn't requie addiional purchases either, IMHO.

It's like Lightwave scoming with modeler as a hop up extra, instead of being included, or photoshop coming with layers as an additional uprade.

I'd wager for just the plants, we'd be looking at about $300 more in additional purchases, when V6I should come with that selection of plants built in.

grumble grumble....LOL!

but! they come back :cursing:

i also deleted the store .ds file from the my docs/vue folder. but! they come back. :cursing: so i unchecked the "check for new content" box! but. they come back. apparently unchecking this box is a ruse on the part of vue, it does absolutely nothing. finally i had an inspiration. i changed all folder names & deleted all the folders that had nothing but store items. NOW they stay away. BUT!  now when i load vue i get nagware, for crying out loud. "vue must replace these folders or you will never see the new items!" wah, cornacopia. haven't figured out how to get rid of the nagware message.& i'm still getting the nagware. went to the cornacopia forum, somebody's bright idea was "put the folders back" to get of the nagware. but! if i do this all the deleted items may mysteriously return. in the long run it's quicker to put up with the nagware than delete ~~ items every other week. boy i am i steamed. am i inclined after all this to even remotely consider buying anything from cornacopia? hmmmm....

yeah. i just needed a rant. finally got it all cleaned out.

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 23 June 2007 at 11:10 AM

Well if all those files I deleted come back, what is the actual solution to remove all those fake content items I do not own?

seems there should just be an option or a specific area, liek poser's content tab, so at least keep them bottled up somewhere.

e-on is like MS.   Its all about control and what we want doesn/t matter........

Uncheck all connections to Internet in options once you get them all deleted.  It will still leave empty folders but they can be gone through and deleted also.

Lot wasted tiem to get what we want...:(      Looks like a  check box to install them or to not would been good for the ones who dont want them and the ones who want would get their wish also. :)

I guess its to simple is why that doesn't happen.

I think they are going toward the direction of DAZ and high content sales, and to support their content artists they are probably going to keep nagging.

Sounds like all of those telephone solicitors, that are not supposed to call my home number, even though I am on the "No Call" list, that keep calling!!!

I complained to the telephone company, and they tried to sell me a Blocking program for and extra $12 a month.   (?!%)^##_)&%@^%&()_+)(&$$)

I don;t mind things like the content tab in poser.. I can ignore that if I choose... but when 1/3rd of my available content isn't actually there, that just pisses me of.. LOL!

You can remove the content tab in poser rather eaisly and then no more connections for it.  :)

I don't even bother with the poser content tab any more.. It's not in my way, and I never use it anyway

I removed it in p5-6 but never even looked at it in P7.

But the vue stuff is sticking in my craw. Why give me demo ecosystems, but then not include the plants needed for them?
