Are there any free or affordable tools for comics, using Poser models?

Are you referring to "shaders" that you use in the material room?

Depends what you call affordable, there's "Comic book creator" available in the Mp here for about $23 I think, I have this one, it's pretty good but has some limits with rotations and stuff that they need to adress, otherwise it's pretty good for comic book type layouts! It's at the link!

Check out Manga Studio. It is not just for Manga. It does impressive stuff.

Should have gotten that when it was on sale....grrrr

Comic book creator is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Totally worth the bones it costs.

I have Manga Studio, and to be honest, I still default back to Photoshop for almost everything.

It's not that it's a bad program, there's just not all that much it can do that Photoshop can't. Once you've set up templates, and have a decent array of comic-like actions and brushes, it becomes almost redundant.

Just my two cents.

Thanks ClawShrimp I do feel better now! It is an expensive program, and I do have the comic book creator so I will stick with that and CS3.

Doc Geep has a tutorial on making comics out there...somewhere..;) just as an alternative that's free, y'know..;)

Hey mon Check out this website for a cool way to make comic renders using any 3D program and a photo program like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. (...language warning...) http://www.3dluvr.com/rogueldr/tutorials/toon_ink/toon_ink.html The tutorial calls for a self illuminated material/shader which Poser does not have - but, you can simulate it by placing an "infinite light" or "point Light" in the same coordinate space as the camera. You can also raise the light above the camera's position which will result will be a weighted line. good luck jdc

The one thing I will say about Manga Studio is that it has the best pen tool I've ever used in any raster program, including Photoshop and Painter. Making smooth hand-drawn lines in Photoshop is tough, even with a tablet because it's very sensitive and records even the slightest shaking of your hand. Manga Studio's pen has excellent sensitivity settings, and the EX version lets you adjust vector lines in many ways after you draw them. I do prefer Photoshop for everything else like ClawShrimp said (especially for coloring, Manga Studio is weak in that department), but if you draw comics using a tablet, it is definitely something to look into. There should be a demo of the EX version on e-frontier's site.
