Subsurface scattering will do it for me.  All I have to do is create an object or two with subsurface scattering, and it will crash every time I try to render.  It will also happen if I use too many displacement materials.  I have to uncheck the Background Draw threads just to do small scenes.  So something it not right.

Ewww, just read this thread. Yeah, I'm late as usual. I updated yesterday and at least i could now fix my small house. Still cant use like 10+ layers of booleans but with very flat structure i got rid of many anomalities.

I already wondered why one of my scenes rendered so unusually long, i had to set quality bias to -1 to get it rendered within a reasonable amount of time. Radiosity looks very well but it seems to have increased render times a lot on normal settings.
