Don't know if its my server on this end or R, but here's take 2 on this. Well, finally made up my mind and bought my Canon G1 Friday. I've had wonderful fun with it all weekend--learning the ropes. Here's an image I was really pleased with. Won't bore you with settings unless you really want to know LOL. This is macro (without added lens--I have macro set on order), manual aperture, shutter, white balance, etc.--no flash. This is way reduced size (as I took at 2048 x) and jpeg compression at 30%, so you will most likely lose some of the detail. No post at all and I imported as RAW file, converted to .tiff--then resized and converted to .jpeg. I'm in LOVE with this camera *S*. BTW, its a foxglove in my garden--had just showered. Diane/picnic (I usually spend my time in Poser or Bryce, but you'll see me here more, I bet)

I loved the image and the droplets of water. Just one thing. I thought it was just a teeny weeny bit under-exposed. I took the liberty of adjusting it in Photoshop. What do you think? I have deleted the down-loaded original

Looks great--I thought so too, but didn't want to do any post work since it was sort of a 'demo' of my new camera. I bracketed it, but this was the highest level exposure. Now I will probably play with it in PSP or PHotopaint. Thanks S.

So many cameras and so little money. I'm jealous. I want a new digital camera. But I just can't convince myself which one to settle on. The Olympus or the Kodak or the Nikon or the Cannon or the Sony. Although the Sony is at the bottom of the list. Bsteph

I understand Bsteph. Believe it or not, I 'fell' into a photography job and HAD to have a camera with more resolution. I had sort of lusted for one with more manual operation like my SLR, but didn't expect to get it anytime soon. Then--this happened--just fell in my lap, and so I then spent a LOT of time researching and still was afraid I would make the wrong choice right up until I paid for it LOL. I've since decided that any one of my choices would have worked out, but this one made good sense (besides the wonderful photos I've seen made with it) because of the option for a microdrive, the swivel LCD and the very long lived batteries S. However, sometimes, you have to consider the money. I was in the position of knowing I could swing it at this time and hoped I would live with it for a period of time. A 3+ MP will work for what I need for quite awhile. Diane (someone wondered what I preferred. I've been around the forums for years--literally. I have always gone by picnic because that's what I used for a nic when I started on the net--before Internet Explorer, can you believe LOL. Then--it wasn't cool to be 'female', now it doesn't matter, and I use Diane because it seems more 'personal' and I've found R'osity to be sort of my family over the years and the fracuses and the coming together again).

Jack, thank you for your critique. Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees. I was so happy I got this shot with this new camera that I just didn't see how an adjustment in exposure could enhance it--and it does. Thanks. I think critiques and help are why we frequent this place and the other forums. Diane/picnic

Very nice picture sigh I only got my 'new' one last November coz I got sick of borrowing my Dad's little Kodak thingy, and now I've outgrown it. I want a new one! I WANT A NEW ONE!
