First af all, in order to create your own clothes, you must own a 3D model software such as Hexagon, Silo, Carrara, Wings...
You can't model clothes inside Poser.

Import the model into Hexagon and Carrara and begin designing the clothing. In Hexagon if you go up to Help>Tutorials, there is one that explains this step. Named something to the effect of "Create clothing for poser figures".
I imagine it might be 6mo to 1 year at least before you're "creating great clothes" - the learning curve appears steep.

At the beginning of my learning (i'm still inside this beginning :)) i mainly followed this tutorial.
You could easily adapt it to any other character you want to make cloth for.
I highly recommand you to load inside Hex the Poser character obj you'll find in your runtimeGeometriesDAZPeople. It will come in the zero pose and would be a perfect mannequin to model cloth on.

Yep secrets of figure creations spands all poser versions.. it's main focus is about creating characters, and all the nexer poser features are just icing on the cake.
There's so much to learn though, from joint adjustment, to poly flow, to uv mapping, that it will take yo usome time to really do commercial qaulity work. I think it took me 6-8 months to complete one really worthy product, and that was with years of lightwave experience behind me.

Alright thanks... I will get the book tonight... I work at an IT job where I sit around and do nothing for 36 hours a week. So I figure I will make my time worth wild tomorrow... I think I am going to work on the Clothes tutorials first. Once I get those down I will be working hard core on the character creation... I started to mess around with Carrarra v5 during my lunch at work and I think I am going to like that program. It seems kind of easy to get adjusted to after working with Maya v8.5 for a little while... Not too bad of a program..

:blushing: I have Carrara 5 too, and found it really great with its render features, but i never managed to build clean cloth with it, i guess it has to deal with learning curve... I always found Hex more flexible and more handy to play with. But it's only a matter of taste.

The Secrets Of Poser Creation book will still apply. You'll need to aquaint yourself with CR2's, grouping, the joint editor, uncompressing CRZ files and basically good modeling skills.
Some basic freeware that is a must are MorphManager, OBJ Scaler and a CR2 editor. Google them and you will find.
Just a cautionary note, be prepared for a somewhat long and bumpy ride. It isn't rocket science but there is more to it than it seems.

Even without PhilC's great products, with a little effort I made this shirt in Poser using the grouping tool, some creative scaling, and the cloth room :P.
If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

Of course using this technique you'll definitley not be making vendor quality items. And as discussed briefly in the thread, depending on what base geometry you use, you may not legally be able to distribute them (free or for $) regardless.

Hello everyone, I am some what new to this forum. I don't post much, but I try to read every chance I get. I would like to know if there is anyone that would be able to point me in the right direction on how to create my own clothes for either male or female in the program Poser v7.0.
I am also wanting to know what things I am needing to know in creating my own character. If there is a tutorial on explaining how the morphs work, and what would be the best way to create my own character that would be great.
Just a little information about me, I use Victoria 4.1 a lot. I am wanting to start working with the guy that I have in my directory. But, I don't have many clothes for him. I would like to know how to create great clothes, and not just ones to get me by.
Can someone help me please...
