Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 2:47 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
I certainly hope so! ;)
Anyway, even the old routines that I use to convert paths for resources (FSRef in (Classic MacOS) allow 254 characters for the full path. MacOS X allows 255 character UTF8 encoded filenames. That's each file/folder name in the path. I am certain that Poser 5 and later support this as they do not run solely in 'Classic' mode but in OS X directly.
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

Way back in the Poser 4 days on Mac there was a limit of 64 characters for the texture and Obj paths. I'm pretty sure this has been addressed in subsequent version. Could somebody confirm this for me.
