Subject: Poser 5 to Poser 6

JudithA ( ) posted Sun, 08 July 2007 at 6:31 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 6:43 PM

Hello again,

I had my mother board replaced and things were going fine, but now I just had to have a new partition put in.  I'm back to loading most of my software again including Poser 5 and 6 with all the runtime goodies.   Does anyone want to make me a noose?

First problem is this:  I install Poser 5 from the CD and it crashes my computer.  I try three times...and three crashes later I un-install it in add/remove.  It is still in my files and it still won't work.  I have no idea why it doesn't work, but is it possible to use Poser 6 without Poser 5?

I'm just about at my wit's end.  I would love to also have detailed help on ext. runtimes if there is a link to doing that.   I live in two different states so I have double the trouble and would love to be able to feel like I am safe with my runtimes backed up somehow.

Thanks for any help you can give me, and sharing my whine.

It is possible to use Poser 6 without poser 5. You will be missing some poser 5 content but this available free from Content Paradise with your Poser 6 serial number

Yes, I agree with Nghayward. Unless you need Poser 5 for texture and character creation, there is really no reason to have both version 5 and 6 on your computer. Version 6 is so much better in the cloth room and with lights, plus it has some extra nifty nodes in the material room.

Thanks for the reply, nghaywood and Acadia,

So I can put my Mil figures and clothes into 6 without any problems?  That would be great, because for some reason my Poser 5 CD is not working.

I'll go ahead and load my previous buys then and see how it goes.  It's going to be a loooong install...lol.

All your Poser 5 content will be fine in Poser 6.   In many ways, Poser 6 was a round-up of bug fixes for Poser 5, with a few new bugs added, in a Larkinesque sort of way.   What works in 5 will work in 6 and, with luck, you'll find that what didn't work in 5 will also work in 6.
